Position Overview
The Food and Beverage Supervisor assists in the daily leadership and oversight of the hotel's Food & Beverage operations, ensuring exceptional guest service, smooth workflow, and adherence to brand and service standards. This role supports team members on the floor, coordinates service execution, helps train staff, and collaborates with management to maintain efficiency and quality across restaurants, bars, lounges, and other dining venues within a full-service hotel.
What You'll Do
Operational Leadership & Floor Supervision
- Oversee daily Food & Beverage operations during assigned shifts, ensuring smooth and efficient service.
- Supervise servers, bartenders, hosts, food runners, barbacks, and support staff in designated outlets.
- Monitor dining room, bar, and lounge flow to maintain guest satisfaction and service standards.
- Ensure proper setup, cleanliness, and readiness of all service stations, dining areas, and equipment.
Guest Service & Experience
- Foster a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all guests, addressing needs promptly and professionally.
- Assist in resolving guest concerns and implementing effective service recovery.
- Engage with guests during service to enhance their dining experience and collect feedback.
- Support VIP service, special requests, and personalized experiences.
Team Training & Development
- Assist in training new and existing team members on service procedures, menu knowledge, upselling opportunities, and safety standards.
- Provide coaching, guidance, and ongoing support to team members throughout their shifts.
- Help maintain a positive, collaborative, and productive team environment.
- Communicate daily goals, menu updates, and operational priorities during pre-shift meetings.
Service Coordination & Efficiency
- Work closely with the kitchen and bar teams to ensure accurate communication and timely food and beverage delivery.
- Assist with order accuracy, presentation verification, and pacing of courses during peak periods.
- Support banquet and catering operations when needed, including setup and service execution.
- Maintain inventory of service supplies, linens, condiments, and equipment in assigned outlets.
Safety, Sanitation & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards throughout service areas.
- Train team members on proper food handling, alcohol service procedures (TABC compliance), and equipment safety.
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure adherence to cleanliness and safety standards.
- Report and follow up on any maintenance or safety issues immediately.
Administrative Support
- Assist with scheduling, labor management, and daily staffing adjustments.
- Support end-of-shift tasks including cash handling, tip reporting, and reconciliation.
- Assist with inventory counts, supply ordering, and documentation for assigned outlets.
- Contribute to ongoing service improvement and departmental planning.
Additional Responsibilities
- Participate in daily briefings, leadership meetings, and F&B initiatives.
- Help coordinate special events, themed dining experiences, or promotional activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support Food & Beverage operations.
- Maintain reliable and consistent attendance as an essential function of the role.
What You'll Bring
Required Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Preferred Education & Experience
- Previous Food & Beverage service experience preferred.
- Supervisory experience in restaurants, bars, or hotel dining environments preferred.
- Experience with POS systems and cash handling processes preferred.
- Hospitality coursework or related training preferred.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Excellent guest service skills with a warm, engaging, and professional demeanor.
- Ability to multitask and maintain composure in fast-paced environments.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Knowledge of food and beverage service standards and safety practices.
- Ability to stand or walk for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to communicate in Spanish preferred.
