SENIOR TRAFFIC SIGNAL ELECTRICIAN
OVERVIEW:
The Mercer County Department of Transportation is
seeking an experienced Senior Traffic Signal Electrician to join our team. This
position involves performing advanced work in wiring, assembling, installing,
repairing, and maintaining traffic signal systems. The Senior Traffic Signal
Electrician will also take the lead on projects and provide direction to other
traffic signal electricians.
WORK HOURS:
This is a full-time position with regular weekday hours from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM. Candidates must also be available to work outside of these hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
SALARY:
$54,422
- $72,229
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform advanced installations of complex
traffic signal systems, including conduits, cables, signals, control boxes, and
electronic control components.
- Plan and execute complicated cable hookups
beyond standard color-coded circuits.
- Maintain and repair advanced traffic
signal radar equipment and electronic controllers.
- Erect, repair, and maintain automatic and
manual traffic control signals, overhead flashing beacons, and traffic timers.
- Conduct bench maintenance, testing, and approvals
for service of traffic controllers and related equipment.
- Operate motor vehicles and equipment
necessary for the role.
- Assign and instruct other employees as
needed.
- Inspect, store, and maintain necessary
tools, materials, and supplies.
- Keep detailed records and reports related
to traffic signal maintenance and operations.
- Learn and utilize electronic and manual
recording systems relevant to the division's work.
REQUIREMENTS:
- A minimum of four (4) years of experience
in signal installation and repair work, electrical maintenance, or as a wireman
in electromechanical assembly.
- A valid New Jersey driver's license is
required.
- Candidates may also need a valid
Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with applicable endorsements for the vehicles
operated in this role.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
- Strong knowledge of traffic signal system
installation, repair, and maintenance.
- Ability to perform emergency repairs under
adverse conditions.
- Proficiency in practicing accepted safety
procedures.
- Capability to lead and provide
instructions to other employees.
- Competence in preparing reports and
maintaining accurate records.
- Proficiency in using electronic and/or
manual recording systems.
