POSITION
OVERVIEW:
The Public Information Specialist Trainee, Digital
Content is an entry-level professional role designed to provide hands-on
training in digital communications within a government setting. Under the
guidance of a supervisor, the Trainee will support the planning, creation, and
distribution of digital content across County websites and social media
platforms. This position plays a key role in promoting County programs,
services, and initiatives to the public through clear, engaging, and accessible
digital messaging. The Trainee will also assist in maintaining web content,
responding to public inquiries, and ensuring compliance with accessibility and
communication standards. Upon successful completion of the 12-month training
period, the Trainee may advance to a permanent title.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in creating and posting digital content across County websites and
social media platforms
- Learn to convert written materials into engaging, accessible digital
format
- Support the production and editing of photos, graphics, and videos
- Monitor and update website content to ensure accuracy and ADA compliance
- Respond to routine public and internal inquiries regarding digital
content
- Collaborate with departments to promote programs, services, and events
- Participate in quality assurance checks, recordkeeping, and status
reporting
- Stay current on digital communication trends and tools
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's
degree from an accredited college or university
OR
- Four (4)
years of professional experience in public relations or digital/social media
communication
KNOWLEDGE,
SKILLS, ABILITIES:
- Strong communication and writing
skills
- Ability to create and manage digital
content
- Familiarity with social media and
web platforms
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to learn new tools and
follow ADA compliance
- Collaborative and adaptable team
player
ADVANCEMENT:
This is a trainee title governed by
Civil Service Commission regulations. Appointees who successfully complete the
required twelve (12) month training period will be eligible for advancement to
the title of Public Information
Specialist 1, Digital Content.
Failure to demonstrate satisfactory
performance during the training period may result in separation from
employment.
