OVERVIEW:
TRADE Transportation is Mercer County's paratransit
service, committed to providing safe, reliable, and accessible non-emergency
transportation for eligible residents, including older adults (60+) and
individuals with disabilities. The Radio Dispatcher plays a critical role in
coordinating daily operations and ensuring the smooth, efficient flow of
communications between drivers, passengers, and administrative personnel.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate radios and telephone systems to dispatch
transportation vehicles.
- Receive, document, and relay information and requests
from passengers and drivers.
- Maintain detailed records of calls and daily
activities.
- Ensure compliance with Federal Communications
Commission (FCC) rules.
- Perform administrative and clerical duties, such as
filing, data entry, and record maintenance.
- Respond to inquiries regarding scheduling, safety, and
transportation procedures.
- Support emergency and safety communications when
needed.
- Monitor video surveillance and report potential safety
concerns.
- May interact with law enforcement databases or public
safety systems as required.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Six (6) months of experience in radio dispatching or
operation of radio/telephone equipment.
OR
- A valid Commercial Radio Operator Permit/License
issued by the FCC.
KNOWLEDGE,
SKILLS, ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of FCC rules for radio systems.
- Ability to remain calm and decisive in high-pressure
or emergency situations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with telephone, radio, and data systems.
- Excellent attention to detail and recordkeeping.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate clearly in
English.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English strongly preferred.
