Position Summary
A certified Medical Assistant is an essential member of the healthcare team. At UNC-Appalachian, the Medical Assistant II promotes a professional patient-centered practice image by efficiently performing a wide variety of clinical and administrative duties to medical office outpatients. This position supports the mission, values, standards of behavior, regulatory requirements, policies, and procedures or the organization. The Medical Assistant II works under the clinical supervision of the provider for patient care activities, and under the general direction of the designated manager/supervisor for non-clinical responsibilities.
Compensation is commensurate upon education, experience, certification, and internal equity. Hiring compensation range starts at $19.22 per hour.

- Compensation is commensurate upon education & experience - range is $19.22/hour or more (depending on education & experience). Benefits begin the first of the month following 60 days of employment from the new hire orientation date. This position is a non-exempt position.

Key Responsibilities:
- Perform both clinical and administrative duties in a fast-paced medical office setting.
- Assist with patient examinations and procedures under the provider's supervision.
- Manage patient records using electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Schedule patient appointments and handle patient inquiries.
- Provide educational support to patients regarding treatments, medications, and procedures.
- Ensure a professional, patient-centered environment in the clinic.
Position Qualifications
Minimum Education

High School Diploma or GED is required.

Associates Degree in Medical Assisting, or related field is preferred but not required.
Experience
-
Previous experience in healthcare or clinic setting is preferred.
Required Registration/License/Certification
-
Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association is required at time of hire.

RMA, AAMA, CCMA certification is required at time of hire
