Position Overview:
The Electronic Billing Specialist is responsible for overseeing the electronic billing process and submitting accurate and timely initial claims to payers in accordance with policy and payer requirements. This role ensures the integrity of the billing workflow and supports the revenue cycle team in achieving high performance and compliance standards.
Compensation is commensurate upon education, experience, certification, and internal equity. Hiring compensation range starts from $18.82 /hour.

- Compensation is commensurate upon education & experience - range is $18.82 /hour or more (depending on education & experience). Benefits begin the first of the month following 60 days of employment from the new hire orientation date. This position is a non-exempt position.

Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of electronic insurance claims.
- Resolve billing discrepancies and denials in accordance with payer requirements.
- Collaborate with internal departments to ensure clean claims and accurate billing data.
- Monitor and troubleshoot errors within billing systems and software platforms.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and payer regulations.
- Provide outstanding customer service and support to patients and team members.
- Support process improvements to enhance billing accuracy and claims processing timelines.
Position Requirements:
Minimum Education:

High School Diploma or GED required.

Associate Degree in Business, Finance, or related field preferred.
Experience:
Required Registration/License/Certification:
- Licensure not required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills with patients, families, and staff.
- Knowledge of medical billing processes and insurance claim filing procedures.
- Proficient with billing and collections software.
- Understanding of healthcare delivery and the continuum of care.
- Commitment to exceptional customer service and ethical billing practices.
Physical Demands:
- Lifts, positions, pushes, pulls, and/or transfers up to and greater than 30 pounds
- Manual dexterity and mobility
- Prolonged, extensive or considerable sitting/standing/walking
- Bending, squatting, twisting, and turning
- Near acuity: ability to see clearly at 20 inches or less
Working Conditions:
- Rarely exposed to the risk of bloodborne diseases
- May be exposed to hazards from electrical/mechanical/power equipment, odorous chemicals and specimens, and unpleasant elements (accident, injury, slippery surfaces, uneven surfaces), etc.
- May be subject to irregular hours (days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays) and emergencies
- Continuous sitting, standing and walking long periods = to or greater than > 8 hours per shift
- Speaking, reading, and writing, expanded > 8 hours per day
- May be exposed to vibration and cramped spaces
- May on occasion lift, carry, push, and/or pull > 30 lbs.
- May bend, squat, kneel, twist, turn, and reach
- Hand, finger, and wrist repetition and moderate dexterity
- Exposed to close eye work
- May be exposed to ionizing/nonionizing radiation exposure, including x-ray and microwave
