- Compensation: Compensation is commensurate upon education, experience, certification, and internal equity starting at $35.65 per hour.

What You’ll Do as a Hospital Police Operations Manager
- Oversee daily operations of public safety personnel, law enforcement patrols, and emergency response activities
- Manage operational functions related to ID badge issuance, card access systems, CCTV systems, and facility security measures
- Develop, implement, evaluate, and adjust public safety and emergency management programs and operational procedures
- Serve as the designated on-site supervisor and safety officer during routine operations and emergency situations
- Exercise independent judgment in enforcing laws, hospital policies, and safety regulations
- Support a culture of professionalism, accountability, safety, and exceptional customer service
- Collaborate with hospital leadership, clinical teams, and external agencies to support organizational safety initiatives
- Assist with operational planning, staff oversight, training, and process improvement efforts
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Associate degree in Law Enforcement preferred
- Completion of North Carolina Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) required
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of sworn law enforcement experience required
- Minimum of 2 years of qualifying experience within the ARHS Police Department required
- Prior supervisory experience preferred
Licenses/Certifications:
- Current certification as a North Carolina Law Enforcement Officer required
- North Carolina Basic Law Enforcement Certificate required
- International Association for Hospital Safety and Security (IAHSS) Safety/Security Supervisor certification required
- Non-Abusive Psychological and Physical Intervention (NAPPI) training required within 6 months of hire
Skills & Abilities:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to effectively de-escalate combative or emotionally distressed individuals
- Knowledge of healthcare operations and patient care environments
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Ability to provide exceptional customer service while maintaining safety and security standards
- Ability to work collaboratively with patients, families, staff, physicians, and leadership teams
Physical & Work Environment
- Frequent standing, walking, and movement throughout healthcare facilities for extended periods
- Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling greater than 50 lbs
- Frequent bending, kneeling, twisting, reaching, and physical mobility activities
- Frequent hand, finger, and wrist repetition with moderate dexterity
- Regular exposure to bloodborne pathogens and healthcare-related hazards
- Exposure to electrical/mechanical equipment, slippery surfaces, chemicals, and emergency situations
- Subject to irregular schedules including days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and emergency response situations
- Occasional exposure to ionizing/non-ionizing radiation, including x-ray and microwave exposure
