As an Accounts Payable Clerk at UNC Health Appalachian, you will play a key role in supporting the organization’s financial operations by ensuring accurate and timely processing of accounts payable transactions. - Compensation: Starting pay begins at $16.80 /hour, based on experience, education, and internal equity
- Schedule: Standard business hours with occasional flexibility based on departmental needs

What You’ll Do as an Accounts Payable Clerk
- Process accounts payable transactions accurately and efficiently
- Maintain financial databases and ensure proper documentation
- Reconcile payments to invoices and investigate discrepancies
- Communicate with internal departments and external vendors to resolve issues
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies and financial procedures
- Support month-end and reporting processes as needed
- Promote accuracy, timeliness, and accountability in all financial activities
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Associate degree in Business or related field preferred
Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in accounts payable or a similar data processing role required
- Prior experience in a similar role preferred
Licenses/Certifications:

- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Effective communication and customer service skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Basic understanding of financial processes and data reconciliation
- Proficiency in computer systems and data entry
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment
Physical & Work Environment
- Prolonged sitting with occasional standing and walking throughout the workday
- Frequent hand, finger, and wrist repetition with moderate dexterity
- Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 30 lbs
- Frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting, and reaching
- Minimal exposure to environmental hazards
- Standard office environment with occasional extended work hours as needed
