Position Overview
The Human Resources Generalist supports the daily operations of the Human Resources Department by administering HR programs, policies, and procedures. This role serves as a key resource for team members and leaders, assisting with employee relations, recruitment support, onboarding, compliance, and HR administration. The Human Resources Generalist plays an important role in maintaining a positive workplace culture and ensuring consistent HR practices within a full-service hotel environment.
What You'll Do
Human Resources Administration & Support
- Support daily Human Resources operations and department initiatives.
- Serve as a point of contact for team members regarding HR policies, procedures, and general inquiries.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee personnel files and records.
- Assist with HR reporting, audits, and documentation.
Employee Relations & Performance Support
- Assist with employee relations matters including coaching, counseling, and investigations.
- Support progressive discipline and performance management processes.
- Promote consistent application of company policies and procedures.
- Help foster a positive, respectful, and inclusive work environment.
Recruitment, Hiring & Onboarding
- Support recruitment efforts including job postings, candidate screening, and interview coordination.
- Assist with onboarding processes, new hire paperwork, and orientation coordination.
- Ensure completion of employment documentation including I-9 verification and background checks.
- Support internal transfers, promotions, and status changes.
Compliance, Policy & HR Systems
- Assist in ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Support administration of company policies, handbook acknowledgements, and training compliance.
- Maintain employee data within HRIS and related systems.
- Track certifications, licenses, and required training completion.
Benefits, Payroll & Leave Support
- Assist team members with basic benefits questions and documentation.
- Support benefits administration, open enrollment, and status changes.
- Coordinate with Payroll to ensure accurate processing of employee changes.
- Assist with leave administration tracking and documentation.
Training & Engagement Support
- Support training coordination and tracking of required programs.
- Assist with employee engagement initiatives, recognition programs, and events.
- Partner with leaders to support communication and culture initiatives.
- Additional Responsibilities
- Maintain HR office organization and supplies.
- Assist with special projects and HR initiatives as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support hotel operations.
- Maintain reliable and consistent attendance as an essential function of the job.
What You'll Bring
Required Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Preferred Education & Experience
- Previous Human Resources or administrative experience preferred.
- Experience in hospitality, service, or high-volume environments preferred.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field preferred.
- Experience using HRIS, payroll, or applicant tracking systems preferred.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Strong organizational and administrative skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Ability to communicate in Spanish preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to work collaboratively with leaders and team members at all levels.
