About Reverb
Reverb is the largest online marketplace dedicated to buying and selling new, used, and vintage musical instruments. Since launching in 2013, Reverb has grown into a vibrant community of buyers and sellers all over the world. By focusing on inspiring content, price transparency, musician-focused e-commerce tools, a music-savvy customer service team, and more, Reverb has created an online destination where the global music community can connect over the perfect piece of music gear.
We love working at Reverb because we're making the world more musical—through our marketplace and through Reverb Gives, which provides musical instruments to youth music education programs. We were named a “Best Place to Work” by Built in Chicago and a “Top Workplace'' by the Chicago Tribune.
About the role
The Shipping Specialist is a key part of our fulfillment and operations team. This role involves preparing gear for resale, managing inventory, and ensuring orders are packed and shipped with care. You'll be working with everything from vintage instruments to branded merchandise, contributing to a smooth and organized shipping process.
You'll play a hands-on role in organizing incoming and outgoing inventory, coordinating packaging needs, and collaborating across departments to keep gear moving efficiently. This position involves working in a fast-paced environment where consistency, communication, and care are essential.
We currently have two contracting opportunities available: a part-time onsite role (20 hours per week) and a six-month full-time onsite contract at our Chicago warehouse, reporting directly to the Warehouse Manager.
Responsibilities
You will receive and assess incoming gear for resale. This includes confirming the condition of items, photographing them, and listing them with accurate details. In some cases, you may coordinate with repair services to improve the resale condition of the gear.
In addition to handling individual shipments, you'll manage inventory in the warehouse and assist with monthly counts.
The role includes preparing outgoing orders, troubleshooting any return shipments, and communicating with customers when redelivery or updates are needed. You will maintain a clean and organized workspace and assist in managing shipping supply inventory.
Requirements
- You have experience with musical instruments and an understanding of how gear should be handled, especially in a resale environment. You're comfortable lifting up to 75 lbs and working in a hybrid role that includes warehouse responsibilities.
- You're organized, thorough, and familiar with warehouse operations. You've used tools like ShipStation, UPS Worldwide, and spreadsheets to track shipments and orders. Experience in customer service or eCommerce is helpful, though not required.
- Clear communication is important in this role. You will be working across teams and occasionally communicating directly with customers about gear or order status.
