GENERALSUMMARY:The Cardiac Tech I position is the 1st level position in performing routine Cardiology testing combined with Order Entry and Phlebotomy/Lab draw. The Tech I position is cross-trained to perform and provide EKG, Holter connections, report retrievals and very basic functions of the Muse system.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Perform diagnostic testing in Cardiology: EKG, Holter hook up, Muse system functionality with Order Entry and Phlebotomy.& Answers phones and is able to direct and resolve all questions and needs related to the department. Works with Radiology staff to ensure service to all patients.
Demonstrates working knowledge of Order Entry process and phlebotomy procedures.
Follows all applicable lab infection control procedures to ensure safety to both patient and self.
Consistently greets all patients, visitors, and customers with friendly and positive attitude. Always displays professionalism when dealing with colleagues and customers.
Ensures Meditech order entry is accurate, verifying patient identification prior to ordering and performing tests.& ; Performs quality check of EKG prior to discharging patient from Outpatient Center.
Escalates questionable EKGs appropriately. Provides patient escort to and from OPC and patient units as needed or requested.
Ensures all techs assist with patient escort to help with this process for the hospital.
Demonstrates commitment to good business conduct by following HCH Performance Standards.
Assists with personal development through training and mentoring as assigned or requested. Maintains patient confidentiality and follows all applicable HIPAA standards.
Maintains professional licensure and personal education through professional affiliations,meetings and educational seminars.
Participates in Performance Improvement activities and monitors as assigned or needed to ensure services are delivered and performed according to hospital policy and procedure as well as industry standards. In compliance with Holy Cross Hospital Attendance Standards.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Education and/or licensure requirements:
Certificate in Cardiology Diagnostic Testing
Preferred. CPR certification -
Required. Compliant with PPD requirement.
Experience: Minimum 1 years experience working directly with patient care - required.
Proven ability to perform Phlebotomy or EKG's. Demonstrated initiative and leadership abilities - required.
MINIMUM EDUCATION:
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• Prior education through a training school for Cardiographic Technicians is preferred.
