AIRO is offering a unique opportunity to join a highly focused and motivated team of engineers in defining, designing, and implementing these advanced systems.
Position Overview: This a paid Internship opportunity for Six Months.
The Quality Engineer Intern supports quality assurance and quality control activities to ensure products meet engineering, regulatory, and customer requirements. This entry-level role focuses on developing knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS), performing inspections, analyzing data, and contributing to problem-solving efforts under supervision in an AS9100-regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities:
· Support the implementation and maintenance of the AS9100-compliant Quality Management System (QMS)
· Perform in-process and final inspections to verify product conformance to specifications
· Assist with First Article Inspection (FAI) activities in accordance with AS9102 requirements
· Review engineering drawings and specifications for basic compliance, including GD&T interpretation
· Collect and analyze quality data (e.g., scrap, rework, yield) to identify trends and improvement opportunities
· Participate in root cause and corrective action (RCCA) investigations using tools such as 5 Whys and Fishbone diagrams
· Assist with internal audits, audit preparation, and documentation control activities
· Ensure accurate documentation, traceability, and record retention in compliance with regulatory standards
· Support customer complaint investigations, including containment and corrective actions
· Collaborate with manufacturing and engineering teams to resolve quality issues and prevent recurrence
· Maintain compliance with company procedures, customer requirements, and regulatory standards
Qualifications:
• Basic understanding of AS9100 Quality Management Systems
• Familiarity with First Article Inspection (AS9102) requirements
• Fundamental knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and engineering drawing interpretation
• Understanding of J-STD-001 and IPC-A-610 standards
• Knowledge of inspection methods, product verification, and quality documentation
• Ability to analyze data and interpret results using basic statistical methods
• Strong attention to detail with a focus on compliance and risk mitigation
• Effective communication skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word)
• Experience in aerospace or other regulated manufacturing environments (e.g., medical, automotive, defense)
• Familiarity with FAA regulations, PMA requirements, and airworthiness standards
• Exposure to ERP/MRP systems and quality data management systems
• Knowledge of configuration management and document control practices
• Basic understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and process capability
• Familiarity with electro-mechanical assembly processes
Education:
· In Progress of bachelor’s degree in engineering, Quality, or a related technical field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
· 0–2 years of experience in quality, manufacturing, or engineering environment
· ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Certified Quality Technician (CQT)
· AS9100 Internal Auditor certification or equivalent audit training
Physical and Mental Requirements:
· Standing and sitting for extended periods of time,
· Lifting up to 25 pounds in a safe and prudent manner,
· Ability to work and communicate well with other employees and management, customers, visitors, vendors.
· Ability to perform work utilizing manual dexterity of the hands,
· Ability to push, pull, bend, stoop, reach above and below shoulders, and full use of upper extremities,
· Ability to easily move through an approximately 25,000 square foot warehouse building,
· Ability to read, write, and understand English,
· Correctable vision and hearing.
