Summary
The Information Technology Specialist will serve as a core technical resource responsible for administering, supporting, and optimizing the organization’s Microsoft 365 ecosystem, including Office 365, SharePoint Online, Exchange Online, Teams, OneDrive, and associated cloud services. This position provides hands-on end-user support, drives user adoption of M365 collaboration tools, maintains secure and reliable infrastructure, and strengthens operational security, governance, and system performance. This role is essential in supporting a modern, cloud‑forward environment and ensuring users maximize the productivity and security capabilities of Microsoft 365. The position serves as a key leader within the IT department, helping align technology initiatives with organizational goals, regulatory requirements, and resident service delivery.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Maintain the operational health, performance, and security of the Microsoft 365 and SharePoint Online environment, including availability, reliability, interoperability, and compliance.
· Administer, support, and configure O365 applications for staff, including Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint Online, and security features such as MFA and Conditional Access.
· Manage SharePoint sites, subsites, libraries, lists, workflows, permissions, and content lifecycle.
· Support complementary SharePoint functionality (Power Automate flows, metadata structures, retention, content types).
· Administer and support the enterprise-level Exchange Online environment; troubleshoot mail flow, mobility, and connectivity issues.
· Monitor service health dashboards, conduct proactive maintenance, and assist in tenant‑wide changes, updates, and feature rollouts.
· Provide technical support for all PC hardware, Microsoft 365 applications, and enterprise systems.
· Train and educate end-users on O365 tools such as Teams, OneDrive, OneNote, Outlook, and SharePoint; promote adoption and best practices.
· Perform new user setup including workstation imaging, O365 account provisioning, MFA enrollment, Teams/SharePoint access configuration.
· Troubleshoot OS, network, printing, storage, and software issues across end-user devices.
· Perform required software maintenance including firmware, BIOS, updates, and patching.
· Evaluate and troubleshoot Microsoft 365 security, mobility, and connectivity issues.
· Support organizational governance initiatives such as retention policies
· Assist in maintaining backup, recovery, and business continuity processes.
· Oversee help desk and end-user support services to ensure timely resolution of issues.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, virtualization, and cloud environments (e.g., Azure, Microsoft 365).
- Understanding of cybersecurity frameworks (NIST, CIS, etc.) and risk management practices.
- Familiarity with public-sector IT compliance, data privacy requirements, and housing authority systems (preferred).
- Ability to lead technical teams and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
- Project management skills with the ability to deliver results on time and within budget.
Preferred Skills & Competencies
· Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration
· Ability to explain and train staff on collaboration tools in clear, user‑friendly language.
· Strong troubleshooting abilities across Windows OS, networks, and cloud services.
· Experience supporting enterprise systems and ticket‑based workflows.
· Ability to work independently and communicate effectively across departments.
Minimum Qualifications
· High school diploma or GED required; technical training, certifications, or college coursework preferred (A+, Network+, Microsoft 365 Certified).
· One (1) to three (3) years of experience supporting IT systems, cloud services, and end users (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
· Experience managing infrastructure, applications, and cybersecurity programs.
· Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
