About the role
- This role is exclusively onsite at our headquarters in San Diego, CA.
- Anticipated work hours are from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, with occasional overtime needed to fulfill production obligations and meet business requirements. We place a strong emphasis on maintaining a healthy work-life balance and are committed to upholding this standard as necessary.

What you'll do
As the Batching, Filling & Packaging Operator, you play a pivotal role in our production process. Your primary responsibility is to fill and package products according to the weekly schedule, ensuring daily production targets align with plant delivery schedules. This entails handling raw materials and finished products, adhering to fill tickets and purchase orders, and organizing shipments. You'll also conduct equipment and product checks to maintain our stringent quality standards.
Joining our vibrant manufacturing plant team, you'll engage in a variety of tasks, including operating batching systems, machinery, and forklifts, utilizing computer and scanning devices, pre-staging raw materials, packaging, filling, palletizing, lifting, cleaning, and effective communication. Upholding company policies and procedures for quality and safety is paramount in this role.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Production Supervisor or Team Lead to adhere to the fulfillment schedule, ensuring accuracy surpassing 99% (maintaining a less than 1% error rate for all finished products).
- Handle, transport, and load packaging materials such as cans, cartons, trays, and pallets.
- Load cans onto packaging equipment, guaranteeing the proper assembly of finished goods, and unload finished goods onto pallets while upholding Westcoat's quality standards.
- Uphold a clean and organized production environment in alignment with manufacturing and safety protocols.
- Generate precise material transfer tags and maintain accurate manufacturing logs.
- Replenish manufacturing racks with raw materials and supplies as required.
- Document production activities accurately and maintain seamless communication with supervisory or production teams regarding any alterations, corrective measures, mechanical malfunctions, etc. Promptly report safety concerns to the Supervisor on duty.
- Collaborate with the production and warehouse team to clean and maintain equipment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum of six months of prior manufacturing experience preferred. Alternative forms of similar experience will be considered for the right individual.
- Proficiency in reading and understanding manufacturing-related documents, including batch records, SOPs, fill tickets, and forms.
- Strong analytical skills, mathematical aptitude, and effective time management abilities, with the capability to multitask while prioritizing safety.
- Exhibit a professional and engaged demeanor consistently, treating all employees, customers, and clients with dignity and respect in every interaction.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Capable of performing physical tasks such as twisting, turning, kneeling, climbing, stooping, bending, crawling, lifting, and carrying supplies and equipment weighing up to 50 - 70 pounds, utilizing appropriate equipment, techniques, tools, and/or assistance. Must be able to stand, walk, and remain on feet for extended periods exceeding 8 hours.

- Preferred but not required:
- Experience operating a forklift or the ability to obtain certification for forklift operation.
- Prior experience working with hazardous materials and a strong understanding of adhering to safety protocols.

The pay range for this role is:17.75 - 20 USD per hour(san diego)
