JOB DESCRIPTION
Sample Production Assistant
San Diego, CA
Reports to: Product Manager
FLSA Status: Full-Time Non-Exempt
Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Position Overview
This position supports the Sample Making Department under the direction of the Product Manager. Primary responsibilities include producing handmade, cured samples for sales tools and educational purposes, as well as maintaining and organizing cured sample inventory.
The role may also provide occasional support for product research and development, including application testing. Additionally, this position may assist with the preparation and shipment of product demonstrations as needed.
Location & Travel
This position is based at our headquarters in San Diego, CA and is fully onsite.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Mix and apply various flooring materials, including epoxies, acrylic cements, and polyurethanes.
- Prepare sample boards by cutting, grinding, sanding, and labeling.
- Organize and maintain supplies and tools.
- Sort, stock, and manage the sample room with finished samples and sales tools.
- Clean and maintain workspaces and equipment to ensure a safe and efficient environment.
- Support sample production and maintain sample inventory.
- Assist the Technical Department with application support as needed.
- Uphold strong housekeeping standards across all areas of responsibility.
- Provide support for product research and development activities.
- Ensure sample room inventory is accurately maintained, organized, and readily accessible.
- Document and record output and productivity volumes.
- Maintain a high level of accuracy in all job functions.
- Deliver quality workmanship in a timely manner.
- Demonstrate professionalism in attitude and maintain positive working relationships across all departments.
- Always maintain a safe work environment for yourself and others.
Training & Collaboration
- Participate in internal training sessions to deepen understanding of products, systems, and workflows.

Qualifications & Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Basic mathematical skills required, including working with fractions, ratios, and measurements.
- Ability to read and write in English. Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills are a plus.
- A minimum of 2-4 years of experience installing concrete coatings, such as resinous flooring, waterproofing systems, cementitious coatings, stains, and sealers.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in construction industry.
- Proficiency in the use of power tools, including table saws, bench grinders, angle grinders, floor machines, drills, and general hand tools.
- Ability to accurately use measurement tools such as tape measures and scales.
- Basic computer proficiency, including accessing websites, data input, label making and using online tools for work-related tasks.
- Proven ability to deliver outstanding support across multiple channels.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrate effective organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Self-motivated with a high level of initiative.
Physical Requirements
- You must be able to lift 50 - 100lbs on occasion.
- Must be able to stand and walk on a concrete surface for much of the shift.
- Frequently move heavy tools and materials, including bags of cement, plywood and other construction materials.
- Ability to work extended hours in various weather conditions, often performing repetitive tasks.
- Ability to spend significant time kneeling, crouching, bending, stooping, or working in a fixed workstation.
- Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including but not limited to safety glasses, gloves, kneepads, respirators, and other required safety gear.
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in a general manufacturing environment with exposure to various chemical products, including but not limited to epoxies, urethanes, cements, acrylics, etc.
- Subject to temperature fluctuations based on weather conditions.
- Exposure to airborne dust may occur and construction debris.
- Ability to work reasonable overtime as requested by management to meet business needs.

- Starting hourly base pay ranges from USD $20 to $30 per hour based on experience.
