About the role
Under the direction of the Layout Manager, the Layout Specialist creates drawing packages for AMBICO’s customers and for fabrication in AMBICO’s factory. The jobholder works as a member of a multi-disciplinary team and is expected to contribute to the execution of projects, producing accurate and on-time deliverables to enable successful project completion.
What you'll do
- Creates and submits product information and high-level technical drawings for external review & approval. Revises drawings as necessary in response to customers’ change requests.
- Creates and submits layouts: detailed manufacturing packages for use in AMBICO’s factory.
- Liaises with Production Engineers as necessary for support with any supplemental drawing requirements and technical questions.
- Liaises with and rapidly responds to questions/queries from the factory and Quality Assurance teams on matters relating to, but not limited to, their drawings.
- Assists as needed with completing 3rd party order forms for other manufacturers with required manufacturing details.
- Collaborates with Project Managers and Production Engineers as necessary to address design matters.
- Utilizes internal and other resources to develop knowledge of doors and hardware and AMBICO’s specialty products and their applications and constraints.
- Other related duties, as assigned.
Qualifications
Education: College diploma in Architecture, Construction, or a related field.
- Experience reviewing technical drawings with a strong attention to detail
- Experience in the architectural and manufacturing industries
- Experience in the door and hardware industry is an asset
- Proficiency with parametric 2D and 3D CAD tools; SolidEdge preferred.
- Strong technical and professional expertise in CAD technology and drawing standards.
- Experience organizing and reviewing technical documentation and research testing.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), with experience in Visual Basic, JavaScript, and PDF form creation.
WORK CONDITIONS:
- Extensive computer use and may involve long periods of sitting.
- Extensive mental effort to analyze information and prepare written materials.
- This position is normally on site at least 3 days a week.
This position is to fill an existing vacancy until March 2027.
