Risk Management Specialist
Job Summary: Under Supervision of the Director of Risk Management, performs a wide variety of technical/professional duties related to the Risk Management Program, Patient Safety Program, and South County Health Self Insured Trust (SCHHS-SIT) including, but not limited to administration, operation, and monitoring of the event reporting systems; report writing, analysis, tracking and trending of data; and ensuring the proper use of the system by leaders, staff, and providers.
Serves as the primary liaison for certain Risk Management functions, including the hospital broker on matters related to insurance products, the Emergency Care Research Institute (ECRI) Patient Safety Organization (PSO), and various internal committees.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree. Minimum three-year work experience in healthcare, legal and/or insurance settings. Excellent data analysis and computer skills with proficiency in various programs including Windows, MS Word, MS Access, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook. Ability to learn new systems and applications quickly. Expert-level knowledge of healthcare/hospital lines of insurance coverage with specific focus on medical malpractice. Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills and ability to quickly build strong relationships with members of the internal healthcare team including Nursing, Medical Staff, Quality Improvement, Medical Records, etc. Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) certification desirable.
Success Factors
Attention to detail, excellent organizational and communication skills, advanced computer skills; working knowledge of insurance management, in a healthcare setting a plus. Must have the ability to work independently on projects and accept new challenges and duties as they arise.
