Responsibilities:
-
Assist the supervising Occupational Therapist in conducting initial and ongoing patient assessments.
-
Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
-
Provide hands-on assistance and instruction to patients during therapeutic activities, exercises, and ADLs (activities of daily living).

Implement therapeutic interventions prescribed by the Occupational Therapist, including adaptive equipment and environmental modifications.

Educate patients and caregivers on safety, proper techniques, and home exercise programs.

Document treatment sessions and progress notes accurately and in compliance with regulations.

Communicate effectively with the Occupational Therapist, healthcare team, and family members to ensure continuity of care.

Monitor patient responses to treatment, reporting concerns and assisting in treatment modifications as needed.

Support patients and caregivers in accessing community resources to maximize independence.

Maintain professionalism, ethical standards, and compliance with licensure requirements and organizational policies.
Qualifications:
-
Completion of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program (Associate’s degree required).

Current Virginia state licensure or eligibility as an Occupational Therapy Assistant.

Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in home health or rehabilitation.

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with patients and families.

Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and therapeutic techniques.

Ability to follow treatment plans and exercise protocols under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist.

Excellent communication, organizational, and documentation skills.

Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for home visits.

Commitment to professional growth and adherence to ethical standards of practice.
