The Staff Accountant plays a key role in maintaining the financial health of UNC Health Appalachian by performing detailed accounting, auditing, financial analysis, and reporting duties. This role supports areas including budget, accounts receivable, and accounts payable. Under general supervision, the Staff Accountant ensures compliance with internal policies and industry standards while fostering a collaborative and compassionate environment. Hiring compensation range starts from $25.08 - $35.00
The starting pay for this position is commensurate with education, experience, certification, and internal equity.

Compensation:
Pay is commensurate with education and experience. This is a non-exempt role. Benefits begin the first of the month following 60 days of employment from the new hire orientation date.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform accounting duties including general ledger, trial balances, account reconciliation, and financial reporting

Support budgeting, accounts receivable, and accounts payable

Conduct audits and provide financial analysis

Communicate effectively with patients, families, team members, physicians, and leadership

Adhere to all ARHS policies, procedures, and ethical standards
Position Requirements:
Minimum Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
Experience:
License/Certification:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Strong understanding of accounting systems and general ledgers

Effective communication and customer service skills

Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time, and collaborate across teams

Familiarity with healthcare financial operations is a plus
