Position Overview
The Admission and Scheduling Representative is responsible for scheduling and admitting patients while obtaining necessary precertification information for both outpatient and inpatient services. This role involves coordinating with provider offices, verifying insurance coverage, and securing pre-admission certifications to ensure a seamless patient experience. The representative integrates knowledge and skills to provide quality work, effectively communicating with patients, families, and healthcare teams to meet the needs of each encounter.
The Admission and Scheduling Representative follows and adheres to ARHS policies and procedures, regulatory requirements, and standards of behavior while demonstrating professionalism, efficiency, and accountability. They practice ethical decision-making, compassion, and respect for the inherent dignity, worth, and unique attributes of each person. The representative works under direct supervision and supports coworkers, patients, families, and visitors within their scope of responsibility.
Compensation is commensurate upon education, experience, certification, and internal equity. Hiring compensation range starts from $16.85 /hour.

- Compensation is commensurate upon education & experience – range is $16.85 /hour or more (depending on education & experience). Benefits begin the first of the month following 60 days of employment from the new hire orientation date. This position is a non-exempt position.

Key Responsibilities
- Schedule and admit patients accurately and efficiently while obtaining required precertification.
- Work closely with provider offices to obtain and verify pre-certification and insurance information.
- Contact insurance companies for pre-admission certification, notifications, and benefits verification.
- Provide quality customer service to patients and families while ensuring confidentiality and privacy.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare teams.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
Position Requirements
Minimum Education:
- High school diploma or GED required.
Experience:
- 3-6 months of prior experience in a medical or office setting preferred.

- Ability to communicate courteously and effectively with the public, patients, families, staff, and physicians.
- Acts within the chain of command using positive verbal and non-verbal communication.
- Strong customer service skills to enhance the patient and family experience.

- Strong organizational and coordination skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask and handle multiple responsibilities efficiently.
- Personable approach when interacting with patients, families, and staff.
Physical Demands
- Manual dexterity and mobility required.
- Prolonged sitting with occasional standing and walking.
- Frequent bending, squatting, twisting, and turning.
- Near acuity: ability to see clearly at 20 inches or less.
Working Conditions
- Exposed to the risk of bloodborne diseases.
- Frequently exposed to hazards from electrical, mechanical, and power equipment, odorous chemicals, and specimens.
- Subject to irregular hours, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Continuous sitting for periods greater than 8 hours per shift.
- Episodes of walking/standing greater than 4 hours per shift.
- Frequent hand, finger, and wrist repetition with moderate dexterity.
- Exposure to soft voices greater than 3 feet away.
- Close eye work required frequently throughout shifts.
