JOB SUMMARY
The Clinical Lead trains and coaches the SameDay Health and Imaging clinical staff. This individual monitors activity for quality and productivity. The Clinic Lead analyzes call metrics and monitors data and produces agent feedback and management reports. They are responsible for scheduling staff, performance management, employee time management, and other record keeping. Ensures the efficient, patient centered and safe day-to-day operation of the SameDay Health & Imaging reception area. They coordinate services with physicians, nurses, and other clerical staff to ensure smooth and efficient operations. Oversees general office organization, takes ownership of complaints from patients, staff, and internal customers and subsequently resolves issues accordingly. Assists with transferring of patients as needed. Assists with patient care, point of care testing, DOT exams, walk-ins, Testing Center, Occupational Health and cleaning and/or stocking of patient rooms as needed.
Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse Admin/Clinic Lead functions as a CMA or MA and provides direct and indirect patient care services that meet the psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care. The Clinical Lead communicates with physicians/managers/co-workers, as appropriate about changes in patient’s clinical condition including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology. Determines priorities of care based on physical and psychosocial needs. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Additionally, is able to perform general nursing duties in the departments with adequate supervision. This position will require exposure to environmental conditions.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Assist Manager with the design and implementation of services that are provided by SameDay Health & Imaging.
- Supervises and routinely monitors productivity and quality of support staff.
- Exercise discretion if Manager is not available for advice.
- Oversee general office organization.
- Coordinator for support staff on a daily basis.
- Takes ownership of complaints of patients, staff and internal customers and follows through to resolutions.
- Assists Manager in development of Office Policies and Procedures.
- Assist with tracking billing issues, documentation for medical records, billing, and discharges.
- Assist with answering phones and route appropriately/take action as needed.
- Assist with scheduling patient's appointments.
- Write and distribute memos and correspondence.
- Process/route mail to SameDay Health & Imaging.
- Prepare and submit various reports, projects and documents.
- Participates in patient intake process.
- Participates in reviews and surveys.
- Assists with Occupational Health record keeping, scheduling, faxing, scanning, emailing as needed along with any other duties as assigned.
- Assist with ordering of supplies and maintaining inventory.
- Adheres to professional guidelines for practice such as defined by the Wyoming State Board of Nursing, the American Nurses Association (ANA) Scope and Standards of Practice.
- Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
- Ability to perform a head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassessments as per policy and specific to unit age specific populations.
- Ability to formulate and revise an individualized plan of care as indicated by the patient’s response to treatment. Evaluates overall plan daily for effectiveness.
- Ability to adequately assess and reassess pain. Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques including non- pharmacological techniques. Includes patient and family in all aspects of pain management through on-going education about pain, assessment, treatment and common barriers to adequate management.
- Coordinates and supervises patient care as necessary.
- Formulates a teaching plan based upon identified learning needs and evaluates effectiveness of learning. Family is included in teaching as appropriate.
- Documentation meets current standards and policies.
- Demonstrates ability to perform treatments and provide services within scope of practice.
- Communicates appropriately and clearly to all health care team members.
- Consults other departments as appropriate to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patient’s needs.
- Provides care appropriate to disease condition and age of the patient.
- Demonstrates an ability to assist physicians with procedures and performs services requiring technical and manual skills.
- Reports significant events such as near misses, adverse events, patient/family complaints, and any situation that affects the safe delivery of patient-centered care in a timely manner.
- Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of patients and their families.
- Functions as liaison between the patient/family, physicians, other healthcare providers and administration.
- Interacts professionally with patient/family and involves patient/family in the formation of the plan of care.
- Maintains a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments.
- Identifies and addresses psychosocial needs of patients and family; communicates with social service/discharge planner regarding both in hospital and post discharge needs.
- Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function well under stressful situations.
- Listens to others concerns attentively to fully understand their needs before responding and follows through with those concerns in a way that shows they care.
- Trained in drug screening collection and processes.
- Trained in DOT processes.
- Skilled in facilitating worker’s comp cases and case management.
- Willingness to assist and absorb high flow patient care times in Urgent Care/Primary Care
- Follows the five medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors.
- Demonstrates the ability to use the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), to gather data and input quality information for EMR reporting measures.
- Knowledgeable of Infection Control, TB, Blood borne Pathogens and Hazardous waste plans.
- Follows the ten medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors.
- Administers oral medications, intramuscular injections, vaccines & topical medications.
- Once competency is completed, may perform lab draw, intravenous (IV) starts and administration of IV fluids.
- Performs Point of Care testing after obtaining specimens to include: throat, nasopharyngeal and nasal swabs.
- Carry out all job duties in a manner that is consistent with the Mission, Philosophy and Policies of SMH.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education / Experience / License and Certifications
- High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED), required.
- Miniimum two years CMA or MA experience.
- BLS certification required.
- Additional certifications may be required based on unit assignment.
