JOB SUMMARY
-
The Director-Specialty Nursing, under the direction of Vice President, Chief Nursing Officer, is responsible for the provision of leadership to plan, develop, direct, coordinate, evaluate and revise departmental operations. Maintains professional relationships with physicians, employees and appropriate constituencies. Ensures patient care/service and departmental operations are provided and improved through interdisciplinary teamwork, using clinical practice guidelines, evidence based outcomes or best practice recommendations. Ensures compliance with regulatory bodies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
-
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. Must be enrolled in a Master's Degree program upon hire and complete program within four (4) years of placement into the Director-Specialty Nursing position.

Experience: Five (5) years supervisory/management experience (may include charge, AHN, HN, Administrative Supervisor, Nurse Manager, etc.) in an acute care facility, with focus on ED/Critical Care.

Licensure/Certification/Registration: Current license in Minnesota to practice as registered nurse.

Knowledge of current clinical practices; principles and methods of administration, supervision and management; demonstrated skills in communication, coordination, consultation and evaluation; demonstrated proficiency in writing proposals and reports; evidence of leadership, critical thinking skills creativity and initiative; evidence of teaching skills; knowledge of budgeting practice. Ability to project and articulate needs of department and staff; plan, delegate and guide the work of subordinates; establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with all levels of personnel and medical staff; to understand and accept personal responsibility; to pursue independent study; to plan, organize, evaluate and promote work activities of assigned clinical areas.

Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, rations and proportions to practical situations.
