Position Overview
The Unregistered Radiology Technician (Rad Tech U) performs diagnostic X-ray imaging within the scope of their certification to support patient diagnosis and treatment. This role requires technical skills, strong attention to detail, and effective patient interaction to ensure high-quality imaging and a positive patient experience. The Rad Tech U adheres to ARHS policies, regulatory standards, and ethical guidelines while collaborating with healthcare professionals to maintain excellence in patient safety, quality, and experience.
Compensation is commensurate upon education, experience, certification, and internal equity. Hiring compensation range starts from $23.19 per hour.

- Compensation is commensurate upon education & experience - range is $22.00 per hour or more. Benefits begin the first of the month following 60 days of employment from the new hire orientation date. This position is non-exempt and includes shift differentials for qualified shifts.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic X-ray imaging following physician orders and established protocols.
- Ensure patient safety through proper positioning and adherence to imaging standards.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
- Collaborate with radiologists and healthcare teams to provide timely diagnostic imaging.
- Operate and maintain X-ray equipment, troubleshooting technical issues as needed.
- Provide patient education regarding procedures and ensure a positive experience.
Position Requirements
Minimum Education
- Completion of Medical X-ray Operator-Limited Certification from a State Division of Health-Related Boards.
Experience
- Clinical radiographic and imaging experience from an AMA-accredited radiologic facility.
Required Registration/License/Certification
- Certification commensurate with Medical X-ray Operator-Limited State Certification.
- Ability to complete Radiologic Technologist (limited to diagnostic X-ray) orientation program.
- Ability to perform diagnostic X-rays as referenced on the state certification performance card.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for patient and team interactions.
- Proficiency in delivering safe and effective patient care within licensure scope.
- Knowledge of imaging protocols and patient care standards.
- Exceptional customer service and attention to detail.
Physical Demands
- Continuous standing and walking for ≥ 8 hours per shift.
- Speaking, reading, and writing for ≥ 8 hours per day.
- Exposure to vibration and cramped spaces > 1 hour per day.
- Frequent patient mobilization > 4 hours per day.
- Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling ≥ 50 lbs.
- Frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting, turning, and reaching.
- Frequent fine motor skill use, hand dexterity, and close eye work.
- Frequent exposure to ionizing and non-ionizing radiation.
Working Conditions
- Regular exposure to bloodborne diseases.
- Exposure to electrical, mechanical, and power equipment hazards.
- Exposure to hazards consistent with X-ray machines.
- Exposure to unpleasant elements such as accidents, injuries, and uneven terrain.
- Must handle emergency or crisis situations.
- Irregular hours required, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- On-call may be required.
