Personal Care Assistants at VNH provide non-medical services, hands-on client contact, including but not limited to: homemaking, helping with activities of daily living such as meal plan preparation, grooming, toileting, eating, dressing, reminding clients to take medications, and transportation in order to support client independence and safety so they may remain in their home.
The Personal Care Assistant will:
- Under the supervision of the Long-Term Care Services Manager, the PCA provides direct care to the client as outlined in the Plan of Care, which may include but not limited to:
- Bathing
- Toileting
- Eating
- Dressing
- Transportation of clients in employee’s personal vehicle
- Prepare meals; grocery shop, perform general cooking, and store foods appropriately in containers, utilizing safe food handling standards.
- Clean living areas, including kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and sitting areas; including the possible use of vacuum cleaners, brooms, general household cleaners, general household trash removal.
- Complete errands for the client
- Medication cueing without administering
- Inform the Long-Term Care Services Manager of any changes in the client's condition or home environment.
- Record activities and submit client-related and administrative paperwork on a timely basis, i.e. time sheets, errand sheets, or other documentation.
Minimum Requirements:
- High school graduate or equivalent required.
- Experience with personal care of the disabled and/or elderly preferred.
- Ability to use iPhone preferred.
- Willingness to learn to use iPhone and apps required.
