About the Position: Closer To Home is seeking a motivated and customer-focused IT Support Associate to join our team. As the first point of contact for many of our staff, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our technology infrastructure runs smoothly, enabling our team to effectively deliver on our mission. You will provide technical assistance and support related to computer systems, hardware, software, and network issues. This role may require occasional travel outside of Calgary to other parts of Southern Alberta to provide on-site support at our various locations, and participation in an on-call rotation to address critical after-hours issues. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a passion for technology, and a desire to contribute to a meaningful cause.
Responsibilities:
- Provide first-level technical support to staff via phone, email, and in person, addressing inquiries and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Troubleshoot hardware (desktops, laptops, printers, peripherals) and software (operating systems, productivity suites, specialized software) problems.
- Assist with the setup and configuration of new workstations, laptops, and other IT equipment.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access rights under the guidance of the IT Manager.
- Install, configure, and maintain software applications.
- Provide basic network troubleshooting, including Wi-Fi connectivity and access to shared resources.
- Document all support requests, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions in our help desk system.
- Follow established IT procedures and contribute to the development of knowledge base articles.
- Assist with inventory management of IT equipment and software licenses.
- Provide basic training and guidance to staff on the use of technology and software.
- Escalate complex technical issues to the IT Manager or other IT staff as needed.
- Participate in an on-call rotation to provide after-hours support for critical IT issues.
- Travel to various locations within Southern Alberta to provide on-site IT support, as required.
- Transport IT equipment and supplies to different locations as needed.
- Maintain a positive and helpful attitude while interacting with staff of varying technical abilities.
- Adhere to the organization"s IT policies and security protocols.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- A degree in IT or a related field is an asset.
- 1-2 years of experience in an IT support role.
- Strong understanding of Windows, Android, and iOS operating systems.
- Familiarity with common productivity software (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Workspaces, Adobe).
- Basic understanding of computer hardware and peripherals.
- Basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, Wi-Fi).
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong customer service and communication skills (both written and verbal).
- Ability to explain technical information to non-technical users.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A genuine interest in supporting the mission of a non-profit organization.
- Valid Class 5 driver"s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Flexibility to participate in an on-call rotation, including evenings and weekends
- Ability to travel to locations within Southern Alberta as needed.
