Cass Health is seeking a collaborative Director of Pharmacy to lead our hospita, retail pharmacy, and durable medical equipment (DME) services This role provides 24/7 departmental oversight, ensuring safe, compliance, and efficient medication management throughout the organization. In addition to hospital-based operations, this position includes operational oversight of the retail pharmacy, supporting outpatient prescriptions and enhancing continuity of care for the community. The Director of Pharmacy serves as a clinical and operational leader, guiding departmental performance, regulatory compliance, staff development, and interdepartmental collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily operations of inpatient and retail pharmacy services
- Ensure compliance with state and federal pharmacy regulations
- Manage purchasing, inventory, and medication distribution
- Support clinical pharmacy services, medication safety, and formulary management
- Collaborate with medical staff and hospital leadership on pharmacy initiatives
- Supervise pharmacy staff and lead departmental training and evaluations
- Monitor and manage pharmacy budget and quality improvement metrics
- Maintain readiness for regulatory audits and inspections
- Acts as Durable Medical Equipment (DME) administrator, overseeing managing of DME products and supplies, policies and procedures, budget, billing and compliance of CMS regulations for DME and accreditation of program.
Qualifications:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or equivalent
- Active Iowa Pharmacist License or eligible to obtain
- Valid driver’s license
- Minimum 5 years of hospital pharmacy experience
