The REGISTERED NURSE will work collaboratively as an active member of the interprofessional team to provide therapeutic patient and family centered care by systematically and continuously collecting and assessing data related to patient's mental health status to develop, execute and evaluate the plan of care.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include but not limited to):
- Provide nursing services to individuals with mental health and/or substance use disorders.
- Engage in clinical nursing assessment and identify medical or psychiatric symptoms that need intervention.
- Identify the need for crisis intervention and clinical nursing practice including personal care services, monitoring and reporting findings, medication administration and monitoring, client teaching and health education, emergency intervention and other nursing services within professional scope of practice.
- Coordinate medical care and intervention with program staff, mid-level providers and/or psychiatrist.
- Develop a therapeutic relationship with patients. Develop and implement crisis stabilization plan of care.
- Observe and document patient's behavior and changes in status throughout the observation and crisis stabilization process.
- Identify early warning signs of a patient going into crisis and is effectively able to intervene before patient escalates into full psychiatric agitation or crisis.
- Help patient improve coping abilities.
The successful candidate will possess the following:
- Valid CA Registered Nurse license
- One year experience in a behavioral health or chemical dependency environment
- Management of Assaultive Behavior certification
- Valid BLS certification
- LPS certified or LPS eligible by Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health within 60 days of hire
