Position Summary
Serving our guests in a cheerful and helpful manner, displaying and restocking product and assisting with preparation of deli items. A great personality, good organizational skills and the ability to work quickly and efficiently are requirements for this position.
Job Duties
- Helps to maintain a clean and safe environment to work and shop.
- Effective communication with team members and supervisors to build and maintain morale.
- Knowledge of company policies, programs, and procedures.
- Promote a harassment-free work and shopping environment, and immediately reports any potential harmful situation.
- Continually strives to build knowledge and skills, both personally and within the department.
- Proper product handling, case cutting, price marking, rotation, facing, and display of merchandise.
- Follow through and achieve all company policies, programs, and directives.
- Is a team player and able to do the jobs/tasks asked by others.
- Maintain quality standards within the department and store.
- Assist guests to help improve their shopping experience.
- Completes tasks efficiently and in a timely manner
- Works with the Service Deli Manager on establishing and monitoring team member work schedules within the department.
- Instructs and teaches others all fundamentals of the Service Deli Department operation. This includes guest services, product preparation, packaging, etc.
- Maintains proper freshness, pricing, code dating, tare and merchandising of the product in compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Maintains effective control of products and supplies inventory, keeping in line with established budgets and guidelines.
- Always maintain adequate and appropriate department records.
- Assists with receiving, storage, pricing and merchandising of all deli products giving special attention to shortages and overages and making proper reports.
- Maintains the highest standards in relation to stock rotation.
- Helps plan aggressive merchandising programs for increased sales. Assists with implementation and giving ideas for cross merchandising with other departments.
- Maintains an awareness of competitive activity with the store marketing areas.
- Helps maintain product and cost control in conjunction with company objectives to maximize department sales and profits and minimize losses.
- Provides professional example for other store team members to follow.
- Assumes the responsibilities of the Service Deli Manager in her/his absence.
Experience: Previous deli or restaurant experience and leadership skills required.
Minimum Age: 18 Years or older
Equipment use: Cash register, fryer, slicer, wrapper, presser, two- wheeler, box cutter, etc.
Physical Abilities: Regularly required to walk, sit, stand, twist, and bend; repetitive use of hands and arms to push, pull, carry, lift, reach, grip, and balance; occasionally stoop, crouch, kneel, or crawl. Use of step stool and ladder. Lifting 60+ pounds and may include floor to shoulder and overhead.
Communication: Ability to write, speak, hear and/or understand the spoken word in order to respond promptly to team members and guests' needs. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance manuals.
Education: High School Diploma or GED; or related job experience and/or training are required. Food Handler's Permit required.
