Position Overview
We are seeking a people-centered, highly organized Recruiter to help grow our dynamic and mission-driven team. In this role, you'll manage full-cycle recruitment efforts—from sourcing and outreach to interviews and onboarding—with a focus on equity, transparency, and cultural alignment. You'll play a key role in building inclusive hiring practices that support our growing programs, advance our strategic goals, and reflect the diverse communities APF is honored to serve.This position is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, brings strong interpersonal and communication skills, and believes that recruiting is both a technical and relational art.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead full-cycle recruitment for a variety of roles across departments—including health services, community engagement, youth programs, and administrative teams
• Collaborate with hiring managers to understand staffing needs, develop inclusive job descriptions, and design fair and equitable interview processes
• Source diverse candidates through job boards, community outreach, partnerships, and direct networking
• Manage applicant tracking and communication using recruiting platforms or systems
• Coordinate and conduct screening interviews, reference checks, and candidate assessments
• Ensure timely communication and a positive experience for all candidates throughout the hiring process
• Support new hire onboarding in collaboration with the HR and Program teams to ensure a smooth and welcoming transition
• Maintain up-to-date records, recruitment metrics, and documentation aligned with organizational practices and compliance standards
• Contribute to the development of APF's talent strategy, helping to shape a workforce rooted in equity, community, and long-term impact
Qualifications
• 3+ years of experience in recruiting, talent acquisition, or HR (nonprofit or mission-driven org preferred)
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple open roles and recruit across various levels and functions
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a talent for building trust and connection
• Experience with applicant tracking systems, scheduling tools, and recruiting platforms
• Deep understanding of inclusive and equitable hiring practices
• Organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing deadlines and competing priorities
• Passion for community work, social justice, and organizational culture-buildingPreferred Skills
• Familiarity with Long Beach or APF's program areas (e.g., public health, youth, housing, reentry)
• Bilingual in Spanish, Khmer, or another community-relevant language
• Experience supporting onboarding or HR operations in a growing organization

The pay range for this role is:55,000 - 68,000 USD per year(Long Beach, California, US)
