Human Resources Coordinator & Payroll Specialist

Human Resources Coordinator & Payroll Specialist
Position Available: 1 Full-time Permanent, non-union
Base Location: Brantford or Simcoe, Ontario
Start Date: ASAP
Hours of Work: 37.5 hours/week
Salary Range: $31.16-$37.28/hour
CMHA Brant Haldimand Norfolk is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and service-focused Human Resources Coordinator & Payroll Specialist to support the delivery of human resources, payroll, and labour relations services across the organization.
The successful candidate will work closely with the leadership team and be entrusted with highly sensitive employee, payroll, labour relations, workforce planning, and organizational information. As such, exceptional professionalism, discretion, sound judgment, and a demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality are essential requirements of this position.
This role is ideal for an HR professional who enjoys balancing payroll administration, employee support, recruitment coordination, compliance, and workforce operations while contributing to an inclusive, equitable, and psychologically healthy workplace.

Highlighted Responsibilities:
Payroll & Human Resources Administration
- Administer accurate and timely bi-weekly payroll using ADP Workforce Now.
- Process employee hires, transfers, leaves, salary changes, benefits, pensions, and terminations.
- Coordinate payroll reporting, reconciliations, ROEs, year-end activities, and government remittances.
- Maintain employee records, HRIS data, and confidential personnel documentation.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, orientation, and employee lifecycle processes.
Confidential Human Resources & Labour Relations Support
- Maintain and safeguard highly confidential employee, labour relations, attendance management, accommodation, disciplinary, and investigative records.
- Provide confidential administrative support related to grievances, investigations, arbitration preparation, workforce planning, and organizational change initiatives.
- Handle confidential information related to compensation, staffing, collective agreement administration, and organizational.
Compliance, Quality & Accreditation
- Ensure compliance with employment, payroll, labour relations, occupational health and safety, accessibility, privacy, and human rights legislation.
- Support Accreditation Canada requirements, workforce quality indicators, continuous quality improvement initiatives, and organizational audits.
Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Accessibility
- Support equitable and accessible recruitment and employment practices.
- Promote a workplace culture of inclusion, cultural humility, psychological safety, anti-racism, accessibility, and reconciliation.
- Apply an equity lens to HR processes and employee support initiatives.
Qualifications and Experience:
Education
Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Payroll Administration, or a related field.Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation is strongly preferred or willingness to obtain.CHRP designation is considered an asset.
Experience
Minimum three (3) years of progressively responsible Human Resources and payroll experience.Minimum two (2) years of experience using ADP Workforce Now.Experience supporting a unionized environment is preferred.Experience in healthcare, community mental health, or the not-for-profit sector is considered an asset.
Key Qualifications
Strong understanding of payroll administration, employment legislation, and HR best practices.Demonstrated ability to manage highly sensitive and confidential information.Knowledge of collective agreement administration and labour relations processes is an asset.Strong analytical, organizational, time-management, and communication skills.High level of professionalism, integrity, discretion, and attention to detail.Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
