Job Summary
Knowledgeable of the operation and maintenance of anesthesia delivery systems, ancillary devices, and monitors. Cleaning, assembling, calibrating, and troubleshooting anesthesia tools and equipment. Use of mechanical and electronic maintenance and testing devices to ensure proper functioning of equipment. Restocks anesthesia cart in each OR suite. Check the batteries is laryngoscope handle. Checks expiration date of items in anesthesia carts and anesthesia supply room. Cleans bins/drawers holding anesthesia-related supplies in carts, supply room, and ventilator drawers. Notifies nurses or scrub techs when supplies are running low. Works under the direction of the RN or anesthesia care provider.
Essential Functions:
- Care of physiological monitors related to the administration of anesthesia
- Aware of biologic hazards, infection control, and Standard Precautions
- Aware of fire, electrical, and explosive hazards in the OR
- Storage, use, and safe handling of bulk and cylinder gases
- Usage of common anesthetic gases
- Type and indications for MAC, regional and general anesthesia
- Maintains and organizes the anesthesia environment, equipment, supplies
- Follows the guidelines of TJC Environment of Care and Safety Goals
- Disposes of used medications
- Has technical knowledge and troubleshooting ability for anesthesia delivery systems, scavenger system, gas analyzer, EKG/pulse oximeter monitors
- Make sure there are no expired products in the anesthesia carts
- Restock anesthesia supplies, including adding missing supplies
- Replace labels for medications
- Replace batteries in laryngoscope handles
- Update inventory personnel when more supplies need to be ordered

Minimum Education/Certifications:
High school diploma required.
Physical Requirements:
On feet most of the time and moves heavy equipment.
Working Conditions:Exposed to unpleasant odors and communicable diseases. Encounters stress, crisis, emergencies, trauma and death. Interacts with health team members and other hospital and referral agency personnel.

The salary/hourly rate range for this position is: $30.60
