Position Summary
The Personal & Small Business (PSB) Insurance Advisor advises, places, services, and grows personal insurance and lower-complexity small business accounts generated through internal referrals, existing agency clients, cross-sell opportunities, and inbound leads.
This role is the Property & Casualty counterpart to the agency's Small Group, Individual, and Medicare service model. It is primarily a consultative, internal-lead role rather than a cold-calling position. Success depends on clear communication, responsiveness, sound coverage guidance, consistent follow-through, and living the agency's core values in every interaction.
The PSB Advisor owns assigned relationships from initial consultation through placement, service, and renewal. As the book grows, dedicated account management support may be added so the Advisor can focus more heavily on relationship management, new business conversion, and retention.
Small Business Scope
This role generally focuses on smaller businesses depending on risk complexity.
-
Appropriate accounts may include main street businesses, BOP-eligible risks, simple general liability accounts, lower-complexity commercial auto, small workers' compensation policies, home-based businesses, and small professional service firms.
-
Higher-hazard, multi-state, contract-heavy, large-schedule, complex workers' compensation, or other complex commercial accounts should be reviewed with the commercial lines team and transitioned when appropriate.
