Clinical Care & Assessment
- The Role Requires: Patient assessment, medication administration, and identifying nursing problems.
- Practice Question: Can you walk me through a time when your initial assessment of a patient helped you catch a critical nursing problem before it escalated?
- Practice Question: Describe your process for ensuring 100% accuracy during high-volume medication administration.
Collaboration & Care Planning
- The Role Requires: Collaboration with physicians, creating plans of care, and multi-disciplinary teamwork.
- Practice Question: Tell me about a time you had to collaborate with a difficult physician or specialist to execute a patient's plan of care. What was the outcome?
- Practice Question: How do you approach care planning for age-specific patient populations (e.g., pediatric vs. geriatric)?
Advocacy & Education
- The Role Requires: Functioning as a client advocate and healthcare educator in a diverse environment.
- Practice Question: Give me an example of a time you had to act as a strong advocate for a patient who was unable to speak up for themselves.
- Practice Question: How do you tailor your patient education when facing language, cultural, or literacy barriers?
Supervision & Team Improvement
- The Role Requires: Indirectly supervising ancillary personnel, team building, and quality improvement (QI) activities.
- Practice Question: Describe a scenario where you had to delegate tasks to or supervise ancillary staff (like CNAs or MAs). How did you ensure the care met hospital policies?
- Practice Question: Have you ever participated in a quality improvement project or noticed a workflow inefficiency that you helped your team fix?
Hourly Pay Rate: $49.00
Qualifications
Education:
- Prefer a bachelor’s degree or higher in Nursing.
Experience:
- Must complete the Valleywise Health New Graduate RN training program or have prior acute nursing experience demonstrating an understanding of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Previous acute care hospital experience in the area for which he or she is applying for is preferred.
Certification/Licensure:
- Must possess a current, valid AZ RN license, a temporary AZ RN license, or a valid compact RN licensure for the current state of practice.
- Must be in good standing with the issuing Board of Nursing.
- Requires a BLS card obtained through an American Heart Association (AHA) training center upon hire.
- In addition, certification or continuing education may be required based on the area of practice:
- Burn Med Surg Peds: Must have ACLS upon hire or transfer. Must obtain PALS within six (6) months. Must obtain ABLS within one (1) year.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- The ability to work with culturally diverse people is a must.
- Bilingual is preferred.
- Must have excellent communication, time management, and customer service skills.
- Requires basic computer word processing skills (e.g., formatting, editing, printing, composing email, internet searches, etc.) to navigate through an electronic medical record using a computer successfully.
- Requires the ability to read, write, and speak effectively in English.
Compensation details: 49-49 Hourly Wage
