Development Manager II
POSITION SUMMARY
The Development Manager II is an enthusiastic voice for Craig’s organizational vision, mission and values, and inspires generosity for Craig Hospital and its patients, managing key annual giving programs at the Craig Foundation. This includes but is not limited to multi-channel direct marketing fundraising campaigns, giving days, grateful patient, peer-to-peer fundraising, crowdfunding, and other digital philanthropy efforts. This position leads strategy for our base of donors and responsibilities include generating story ideas for fundraising campaigns, segmenting donor communications, stewarding gifts, conducting thorough performance analysis, and continually refining strategies for increasing the number of donors and contributions to philanthropic campaigns. Through data driven program analysis, assessment of market trends and best practices, and business needs, the Development Manager II will build and implement strategy to acquire, renew, and upgrade donors by collaborating directly with internal and external stakeholders, including vendors and teammates dedicated communications, pipeline strategy, stewardship and more.

Location: 3425 S Clarkson St, Englewood, CO 80113 (located in the Foundation Building)
Shift: Monday- Friday 8 am- 4:30 pm, flexible to event schedules
Compensation: $28.93/ hour — $41.67/hour

- Education: Associate Degree or equivalent education/experience required. Degree, certificate/training or experience in nonprofit management, annual giving, marketing, communications, or data preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 4-6 years of annual giving, development, direct marketing experience, or related experience required. Fundraising database experience strongly preferred, preferably in Raiser’s Edge, experience in direct marketing and healthcare philanthropy preferred.
- Skills & Abilities: Strong creative writing and storytelling abilities required. Ability to work collaboratively and successfully as a member of a team as well as independently. Knowledge of fundraising and development principles, industry trends, methods and procedures. Significant background in segmentation to yield maximum results and develop customized appeals that inspire and motivate people to give. Sophistication in data management and analysis a plus. Ability to organize, prioritize and meet deadlines, while effectively managing multiple projects simultaneously. Must be able to successfully and effectively communicate with a variety of personnel. Possess good analytical and problem-solving skills, must be detail oriented with excellent follow-through. The ability to relate to persons of all ages and diverse backgrounds, skills and abilities. Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the position. Creative and "out of the box" thinker. Ability to present self in a personable, professional and energetic manner. Must have high level of accuracy, proofreading skills. Raiser's Edge knowledge strongly preferred. Ability to display a passion for the mission of Craig Hospital. Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office suite required; experience on digital platforms like Luminate Online, JustGiving, Feathr as well as crowdfunding and other digital philanthropy platforms is helpful.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Develop and implement data- and best-practice-informed strategy for annual and multi-year revenue and donor acquisition, retention, recapture, and upgrade for the Craig Foundation’s generous base of givers.
- Manage and execute a multi-channel integrated fundraising plan that includes direct mail, email, website, phone and social media solicitation tactics as well as other individual giving. This is inclusive as key programs like season appeals, GivingTuesday, Colorado Gives Day, and more. Develop and deploy compelling content and fundraising communications.
- Research, present and manage program budget.
- Establish metrics (including acquisition, revenue, retention, upgrades, and recapture) and analyze data that informs program and pipeline strategies. Report on metrics monthly and looks for trends and opportunities that inform program strategics and segmentation.
- Steward annual giving donors through phone calls, handwritten notes, emails, etc., and collaborate with colleagues to build stewardship programs for these donors. Work with volunteers to deploy stewardship efforts.
- Cultivate and steward a recurring giving program. Write personalized content and partner with colleagues on stewardship and communications strategies for implementation by Development Manager II.
- Work with planned giving staff to integrate planned giving opportunities into annual giving communications. Use segmentation skills to develop strategy and materials for specific planned giving mailings.
- Contribute to strategy and execution of a one-to-many grateful patient program that includes ways for patients to give, while recognizing and honoring staff.
- Drive strategy on digital philanthropy initiatives to include special digital fundraising campaigns, geofencing, social media philanthropy strategy, and crowdfunding for initiatives. Apply strategies for various segmentation related to loyalty, retention, renewal, and upgrades. Conduct A/B testing to email fundraising campaigns and apply learnings to future campaigns.
- Deploy donor research insights to implement new ways of reaching donors through digital outreach.
- Develop a multi-year strategic plan to grow digital and other philanthropy at the Craig Foundation, building on industry insights and Craig-specific work.
- Participate in donor and prospect discovery and qualification activities through one:many engagement and outreach efforts, calls and meetings to surface donor interest and alignment, and capturing relevant insights to inform pipeline development and future cultivation strategies.
- Evaluate program results and determine strategies for the future. Present program results to the Foundation team, leadership, Foundation Board and committees as requested.
- Responsible for monthly reconciliations and database accuracy.
- Consider how content can be inclusive to represent Craig alumni and donors of all backgrounds.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

- Cultivate, solicit, and steward gifts through in-person, phone and email communication. Participate in welcome bag delivery, leading tours, and IOE meetings as requested.
- Manage and collaborate with teammates and vendors on multi-channel deployment and execution and to move donors through the pipeline.
- Participate in discovery and qualification work. Organize and develop targeted fundraising marketing program to former patients and specific community segments.
- Present at Hospital orientation on behalf of the Craig Foundation.
- Responsible for giving days such as Giving Tuesday and Colorado Gives Day.
- Apply industry best practices and proven metrics to annual giving work.
- Responsible for managing data and content for the annual giving program.
- Generate comprehensive reports and conduct data analysis.
- Lead and participate in demos for technologies that inform digital philanthropy tactics.
- Work in Raisers Edge database to analyze and prepare reports on metrics related to annual giving.
- Manage applications and relationships with giving entities such as Community Health Charities, United Way, and Vehicles for Charity.
- Support employee giving campaign.
- Serve as a member of the Foundation team to assist in meeting overall annual and campaign goals.
- Participate in staff meeting and strategic planning for the Foundation. Serve on subgroups/task forces at the Foundation and Hospital as requested.
- Train and cross-train other employees as requested.
- Become familiar with and follow hospital wide and department specific policies and procedures; seeking assistance from management when clarification or assistance is needed.
- Become familiar with and follow Craig Hospital Cultural Covenants.
- Assist other staff as requested.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
