CAAN Communities, Alliances & Networks ("CAAN") provides a National forum for Indigenous Peoples to wholistically address HIV and AIDS, HCV, STBBIs, TB, Mental Health, and related co-morbidity issues; promotes a Social Determinants of Health framework through advocacy; and provides accurate and up to date resources on these issues in a culturally relevant manner for Indigenous Peoples wherever they reside.
Position Overview
The Resource Development Coordinator, through the guidance and supervision of the Programs Manager, oversees the development, knowledge transfer, and delivery of the Promising Practices Knowledge Bundles, while also partnering closely with other team members across CAAN. As a foundational resource archive for knowledge transfer, the Resource Development Coordinator will work with many community partners across this land, along with Indigenous-serving agencies and other CAAN partners to equip them to use the Promising Practices Knowledge Bundles in their work.
The Promising Practices Knowledge Bundles are a series of educational tools and resources, as well as activities and events, that support Indigenous communities, service providers and stakeholders and respects the dignity, self-determination and strength of Indigenous people. The intention of the project is to provide tools and resources to Indigenous people and organizations so that they may develop approaches that are of their benefit to improving community health and wellness outcomes.
This is remote position, located anywhere in Canada.
This is a temporary, maternity leave cover, employment opportunity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Continuous and consistent monitoring of education material, revising and updating on an on-going basis to ensure relevancy, appropriateness and alignment with current health outcomes.
- In partnership with the Community Readiness Model Coordinator, identify, through evaluation analysis, relevant prevention, intervention and strengths-based education themes.
- Develop educational resources and tools (i.e. Guides, Toolkits, Information and FAQ Sheets, Training Manuals, Workshops and Training Seminars).
- Knowledge sharing and delivery of developed and collected materials and resources to Indigenous communities and stakeholders and through online learning platforms.
- Collaborate with other members of the CAAN programs team for insight, feedback and input into the development of education materials and resources, engage with other CAAN programs and projects for the delivery of this information, and participate in all CAAN events and activities for the promotion of this project.
- Relationship Building & Consultation
- Engage Indigenous community partners and other organizations to ensure learning material perspectives developed are aligned with the CAAN mandate and reflective of our partners’ needs.
- Provide ongoing support and regular communication to Indigenous community and stakeholders throughout this project.
- Ensure that project deliverables adhere to funding requirements (i.e.. reporting, budget, evaluation) and workplans in collaboration with program team and management.
- Provide technical and logistical support to training participants.
- Complete other tasks as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
A university degree, college diploma, or combination of training and experience in a discipline related to Indigenous health, resource development, or project management.Demonstrated experience in workplan development and implementationExperience working with diverse Indigenous communities.Ability to work independently and expeditiously under tight timeframes with competing priorities is essential, including independent problem solving and self-directed training when needed to complete tasksUnderstand CAAN’s mandate and goals and possess a strong background, knowledge, and experience of Indigenous organizations, communities, and traditions.An understanding of Harm Reduction concepts.Ability to adapt to evolving situations, as new funding opportunities arisePossess strong computer literacy and proficiency in using Microsoft Office365’s various programs, as well as web-based applications including search engines and toolsPossess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of individuals and internal and external stakeholdersAble and willing to travel and/or work outside normal office hours, including evenings and weekends
