OVERVIEW CAAN Communities, Alliances & Networks (“CAAN”), as a non-for-profit Indigenous-led organization, provides a national forum for Indigenous Peoples to wholistically address HIV and AIDS, HCV, STBBI, TB, Mental Health, aging and related co-morbidity issues. CAAN’s funders and partners enables CAAN to promote a Social Determinants of Health Framework through advocacy where mental health issues stemming from colonial trauma and lateral violence are addressed and where accurate and up to date resources on these issues are discussed in a culturally relevant manner for Indigenous Peoples wherever they reside. Our organization is culturally grounded and operates through Indigenous Ways of Knowing and Doing (“IWKD”).
POSITION SUMMARY
The Revenue Diversification & Business Development Coordinator (“RDC”) is a results-driven revenue generator responsible for securing new and sustainable funding streams to advance the CAAN’s mission and long-term financial sovereignty. CAAN is searching for a flexible, adaptable, and culturally conscious individual to work on diversifying and expanding CAAN’s revenue streams to further enhance its core operations. The operational team at CAAN is tasked with providing vision, direction, and leadership for the various Indigenous-led health initiatives that addresses HIV and AIDS, HCV, STBBI, TB, Mental Health, aging and related co-morbidity issues, and colonial mental health traumas across Turtle Island.
The RDC operates at the intersection of community, culture, and capital, ensuring that all revenue generation efforts are conducted with integrity, reciprocity, and respect for Indigenous sovereignty. Grounded in Indigenous Ways of Knowing and Doing, the RDC leads the development and execution of strategic business development, philanthropic finance, and social enterprise initiatives that generate revenue.
The successful candidate for this contractor position will:
Actively bringing new funds into the organization. Strengthening donor pipelines and partner ecosystems.Advancing culturally safe, ethical, and relational approaches to fundraising and investment.
Supporting CAAN’s transition toward sustainable, self-determined revenue models.Identify, pursue, and secure new funding opportunities (grants, philanthropy, partnerships, sponsorships, and social finance).Build and manage a robust donor and funder pipeline.Contribute directly to annual revenue targets and diversification goals.Support the design and implementation of social enterprises and earned revenue strategies.Engaging donors and partners in ways that honour Indigenous protocols, ceremony, and relationships Develop and execute a revenue diversification strategy aligned with CAAN’s strategic plan Build, manage, and expand donor pipelines, funder relationships, and partnership portfolios Conduct market scans and opportunity analysis across philanthropic, corporate, and social finance sectors Lead outreach and engagement with new funders, investors, and partners Support and contribute to grant writing, proposals, and funding submissions Track all funding opportunities from prospect → proposal → secured revenue Maintain accurate records using CRM systems and internal tools (e.g., SharePoint, Excel) Prepare briefings, reports, and presentations for the Revenue Diversification Committee.
Qualifications:
Proven and applied experience working in business development, networking, and establishing mutually beneficial relationships. Experience in identifying potential opportunities for revenue diversification for similar non-for-profit organizations. Proven record of helping non-for-profit organizations secure diversified and secure revenue streams. Culturally conscious and appreciative to the dynamics of an Indigenous-led organization.

Weekly reporting of activities such as meetings, engagements, and potential partnerships.New revenue secured quarterly. Compensation details: 30-32 Hourly Wage
