Position Summary
The Staff Hardware Product Manager will develop and implement EV Charging Hardware and Infrastructure product strategy initiatives at EVgo. The role will deliver value to our business and the EV driver by ensuring we maintain a best-in-class customer experience at our charging sites. This individual contributor role is fully remote and carries influence on the company direction with visibility from the executive team.
This role will distill broad strategic goals and marketplace trends into product initiatives, and will define product requirements, coordinate cross-functional teams, and ensure the successful delivery of high-quality charging sites that meet customers’ needs. The Role will focus on the overall presentation of the charging site, inclusive of EV chargers, parking strategy, canopies, signs, and other infrastructure. This role brings it all together, supporting meetings and communication forums to drive cross functional implementation.
Experience in product design & development, manufacturing, general construction, service & maintenance, and financial analysis are a plus. Teamwork, positivity, technical acuity, and self-governed discipline will be critical for success. A firm grasp on the EV charging landscape and marketplace is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain multi-year DC Fastcharger product feature roadmaps
- Develop and maintain standards for Charging Sites inclusive of all built and owned infrastructure
- Drive proactive research, planning, execution, and potential fixes for new product releases
- Prioritize site and charger features and enhancements based on customer feedback, market forces, and business objectives; ensuring tasks are organized, clearly communicated, and effectively prioritized
- Create ground up business models for critical new charging products, features, and infrastructure scopes
- Work closely with internal engineering and external architects and vendors to ensure synchronization with the release calendar and overarching business objectives
- Define Customer Archetypes and compile User Journeys which encompass the use of our products
- Collaborate with UI/UX Design to define and create an intuitive user experience with a customized UI that meets both user and business requirements
- Conduct and interpret thorough User Acceptance Testing for new and existing products and charging sites
- Align feature plans and roadmaps with a range of stakeholders, including Site acquisition, Site Deployment, Supply Chain, Engineering, Product Management, Quality, and Senior Leadership
- Act as the primary point of contact for initiatives under your purview, providing timely responses to questions and maintaining open communication to ensure clarity for the working team
- Use data to monitor product and site performance and identify opportunities for improvement
- Maintain a data driven pulse on industry trends in technology, business practices, and customer offerings, ensuring we have a complete view of the competitive benchmarking landscape for charging sites in USA
- Report progress and situational summaries quickly and concisely to the Senior Leadership team
Qualifications
- Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years experience; or equivalent experience.
Desired Skills
- Experience in product development, preferably in EV charging or related industry
- Ability to work cross functionally and in a high-pressure environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong negotiation skills
- Experience presenting to senior leadership
- Exposure to engineering, manufacturing, and construction environments a plus
- Experience in software and hardware development a plus
- Experience in the EV or renewable sector a plus

- Actual salary may vary depending on job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition to a competitive base salary, we offer discretionary target cash bonuses, restricted stock units (subject to Board Approval), and a comprehensive benefits package including health, life, and disability insurance, unbounded paid time off including parental leave, and a 401(k).
