The Maine Municipal Association is seeking an experienced leader for our Worker's Compensation Claim's unit. In this position you will be responsible for the technical and administrative functions of the unit, including overall daily supervision of Workers Compensation Claims Technicians and reporting to and assisting the Assistant Claims Manager in the overall operation of the unit. The position further carries responsibility for the quality and management of claims for both member participants and TPA customers, including meeting standards established for customer service, compliance with Maine statutes and regulations and RMS Standard Operating Procedures. This role has direct contact with program participants, regulatory authorities, attorneys and service providers on a regular basis. Employee in this position is expected to be nearly autonomous; work is performed under the overall direction of the Claims Manager and general direction of the Assistant Claims Manager.
Some of the Duties and Responsibilities include...
- Preparing and conducting performance evaluations, both formal and informal for claims staff.
- Preparation of regular reports and maintaining a wide range of records required for the administration of the WC program.
- Assist in the development of Standard Operating Procedures, litigation control and vendor relations.
- Managing the lost time claims of assigned members.
- Management of claims in accordance with The Workers’ Compensation Statute and applicable Maine Bureau of Insurance Regulations, and internal MMA claims management guidelines. (Under supervision of the Assistant Claims)
Qualifications
Comprehensive working knowledge of all pertinent Maine Workers Compensation laws.Familiarity with industry litigation management practices in Workers Compensation.Ability to anticipate problems and find or recommend appropriate means to solve them.Familiarity with appropriate personnel management practices.Good supervisory skills and the ability to provide appropriate direction and coaching to staff.Good communication skills, both oral and written.Demonstrated ability to work with the Windows computing environment and with MS Office applications.Strong time management and organizational skills.Exhibits a professional manner in dealing with others and works to maintain constructive working relationships at all levels within MMA, as well as with members of the association.
Desirable Experience and Training
A Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, insurance or a related field, or any equivalent combination of experience and training. A minimum of five years of responsible claims management experience in the Maine workers compensation environment; Professional insurance designations or continuing course work leading to designations are desirable.
Necessary Requirements
State of Maine Adjuster’s License
Monday through Friday, 8:00AM - 4:30PM, 37.5 hours per week.
Compensation details: 73889.18-96055.83 Yearly Salary
