ABOUT THE FOUNDATION
The Lucile Packard Foundation for Children's Health, in partnership with Stanford Medicine and Lucile Packard Children's Hospital, unlocks philanthropy to transform health for children and families in Northern California - and around the world. Through fundraising and grantmaking, the Foundation drives scientific research, innovation, and policy change that will improve care, advance cures, and reform healthcare systems for this and future generations.
MAIN FOCUS: Provide administrative support to the Annual Giving team by managing constituent data in Raiser's Edge, providing in person event support and project management.
LOCATION: Hybrid Position – the candidate will work an average of three (3) days per week in our Palo Alto, CA office; the successful candidate will be based in the Bay Area.
WHAT YOU'LL DO...
As the Temporary Development Associate, you’ll be responsible for general administrative support for the Annual Giving team. This will include project support, constituent management in our database (Raiser’s Edge), including pulling thank you call logs, updating individual donor records and reporting out comprehensive findings monthly. You will also get experience with donor engagement and strategy, providing in-person event support and execution. You will report to the Senior Director, Annual Giving.
This is a temporary, full-time position lasting approximately four months, from June through October 2026.
The compensation range for this role is between $29-$34 per hour.
YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR...
Administrative and Program Management (~60%):
Provide administrative and programmatic support to the following programs:
Annual Giving Team Support
- Schedule meetings in Outlook on behalf of department, field officers, and/or teammates on Annual Giving team.
- Build systems and support budgeting for Annual Giving verticals.
- Monitor Annual Giving shared email inboxes and forward/respond to correspondence in a timely fashion.
- Upload published content into Merlin digital asset management solution on behalf of Annual Giving team.
- Support Ambassadors, Community Fundraising, Auxiliary, and field events as needed, including tabling, event registration, set-up and breakdown, etc.
Circles of Leadership Giving Societies
- Manage constituent lists for donors in the highest giving society level and assist with metric tracking/renewal strategy.
- Update COL attributes on a weekly basis, ensuring donors are categorized into the applicable giving society.
Stewardship
- Help execute the bi-annual stewardship mailing for Circle of Leadership donors ($2,500-$25,000).
- Coordinate, format, and execute mailings to prospects and donors, including solicitation letters and stewardship pieces.
- Produces letters to accompany stewardship reports and communications.
- Maintains stewardship schedules and project objectives.
- Coordinates review from multiple Foundation teams.
- Assists with stewardship events, including the development of invitation lists.
Ambassadors for LPFCH
- Maintain membership lists and assist with communications.
- Assists with mailings including creating, stuffing, addressing and tracking.
- Keep Ambassadors event registration and donation pages in Classy module up-to-date.
- Attend meetings and coordinate in-kind donations as needed.
Direct Marketing & Digital Fundraising
- Proofread direct response pieces, such as mail and email drafts, and provide edits or suggestions in a timely fashion.
- Help with donor welcome packets and letter merging.
Portfolio and Database Management (~40%):
- Draft and/or edit donor correspondence, and other documents as needed.
- Ensure strategic donor engagement and solicitation by reviewing with gift officers their donors listed to receive mailings and event invites from other teams.
- Pull thank you call logs on a weekly basis, ensuring donors are thanked for their gifts in a timely manner.
- Using the Foundation’s constituent relationship management database to retrieve and update information about engagement with prospects and donors, request assignments, and generate reports.
- Review, track, and report on funds and gifts.
- Provide ongoing support to Annual Giving field officers to track and input data into Raiser’s Edge on their behalf.
YOU MUST HAVE...
- Associate or Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
- 2+ years directly related work experience, including experience in a support role
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Regular and predictable attendance. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends on occasion and to travel within the Bay Area. Access to reliable transportation.
- A genuine interest in working in a nonprofit environment, a strong desire to work in a development environment.
IT'S AN ADDED PLUS IF YOU HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH...
- Prior experience supporting multiple individuals.
- Knowledge of constituent relationship management database systems (Raiser’s Edge).
- Advanced online research capabilities.
- Basic graphic design capabilities (using Canva.com, Adobe Photoshop, or comparable tool).

Ability to prioritize and complete assignments in a timely manner. Possesses a high attention to detail and produces high-quality work consistently.
- Relationship Builder and Clear Communicator: Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate and work collaboratively with diverse population groups (constituents, physicians, faculty, staff, vendors, volunteers etc.).
