Position Title: SPECIAL PROCEDURES TECHNOLOGIST
Position Summary:
The Special Procedures Technologist (SPT) will perform a variety of procedures utilizing diagnostic imaging equipment. The SPT will use specified protocols to position and immobilize patients on examining table, using head and shoulder braces, enter technical factors such as amount and quality of radiation beam, and specified imaging sequence into computer, raising and lowering examining table and manipulating and positioning x-ray tube. The SPT will start automatic injection of contrast medium into blood vessels of patient, and activate fluoroscopic or digital unit to produce images that assist radiologist in guiding catheter through cardiovascular system of patient. The SPTwill rotate through the on-call schedule andmust be willing to report back to work during any emergency situation, this includes if needed during inclement weather, mass casualty, internal disaster, etc. The SPT will complete other duties as assigned.
Education:
- Graduate of an accredited Radiology Technologist program required
- Bachelor's degree in Radiology is preferred
Experience:
- Previous Special Procedures experience in a hospital setting strongly preferred.
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
- Registered in Radiology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Registered in Interventional Radiology (IR) by the ARRT preferred.
