DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Following is an outline of the steps required in utilizing the Pallet Tag Process:
Sign On
Operator signs on as usually done when signing on to a packing station.
Enter name
Enter Password
Build a Pallet Program
Operator selects option 16 – Build a Pallet – Type in #16 at bottom of page and enter.
Pallet ID Screen appears
Press the F6 key to bring up the pallet ID number. On this screen, a record is displayed of the number of cartons and units on the pallet. As a carton is scanned, a running total of cartons and units are maintained.
Now ready to begin scanning cartons for the pallet.
Scan each carton label and place carton on the pallet. Periodically check carton labels to make sure that they match what is going on the pallet and that the labels can be read and the Barcode is clear. Advise packer of any problem.
When all cartons are scanned for the pallet and placed on the pallet, Press the F9 key to print labels. Inspect Barcode on labels to make sure that it is clear and readable.
4 pallet labels are printed (1 for each side of pallet). The pallet is wrapped and the adhesive pallet label is placed on the shrink wrap on each side of the pallet.
Remove completed pallet and replace with an empty for next pallet to be processed.
Press F6 key to begin new pallet.
Corrections for Errors and Rule Changes
Scan same carton twice
An error message appears stating the carton was previously scanned.
The message is framed in red and produces an audible ring tone.
Press the enter key to clear and place carton on pallet.
Carton scanned does not belong to that pallet (Different Pick Group, Pool, or DC)
An error message appears stating that the carton is not assigned to the pallet.
The message is framed in red and produces audible ring tone.
Press the enter key to clear and check to see if that signals the need for a new pallet or mixed cartons on the conveyor.
If a new pallet is needed due to a change of pick group, pool or DC, the current pallet is completed by pressing F9 to print pallet labels. Begin new pallet.
If cartons are mixed on the conveyor, then they must be sorted and the correct cartons placed upon the pallet before beginning a new pallet.
Rule Changes
By pressing the F7 key when beginning a pallet, a screen appears which defines the items allowed on the pallet. This allows for mixed categories on a pallet when needed or can restrict further what goes on a pallet. Do not change this screen without supervisory approval. To return to pallet screen, press F12.
Remove Cartons From Pallet
If a carton that has been scanned onto a pallet needs to be removed from the pallet, Hold the Shift Key while pressing the F6 key and then scan carton label of the carton to be removed. This deletes the carton from the pallet.
Press F12 to return to pallet screen.
Reopen pallet to add additional cartons
Follow start up instructions as if beginning a new pallet. Instead of pressing the F6 key to bring up a pallet number, scan a carton from the pallet that you wish to reopen. This will automatically bring up the pallet number on the screen with the pallet information and you can begin scanning and adding to the pallet.
Operator Notes
Be attentive to each carton so that all cartons are scanned before being placed on the pallet.
Check the running total of cartons periodically to make sure the count is correct.
Close pallets at the end of the day prior to leaving. Can reopen the following morning.
