Part-Time Equine Worker Equine Worker – Part-Time (Non-Exempt)
Rate: $13.00 per hour
Pay Grade: PT | Starting salary based on prior experience and education.
Location: Farmpark, Lake Metroparks 8800 Euclid Chardon Rd., Kirtland, OH 44094
Under the direction of the Equine Manager, the Equine Worker performs daily equine care including feeding, stall cleaning, turnout, barn and arena maintenance, and general facility upkeep. Depending on experience, the employee may ride or drive horses for exercise or demonstrations and may assist with vaccinations and health-related procedures. The position also supports programs, classes, public events, and wagon rides. Must be flexible to work up to 28 hours per week, including weekends, weekdays, holidays, and occasional evenings.
Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Provide daily equine care including feeding, watering, stall cleaning, turnout, and health observation.
- Perform barn, arena, pasture, trail, and wagon maintenance and ensure facility cleanliness and safety.
- Ride or drive horses for exercise or demonstrations and assist with equine programs and public events.
- Operate tractors, wagons, vehicles, and other equipment; perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience working with horses preferred.
- Riding or driving certifications preferred but not required.
Position Requirements:
- Ability to work a flexible schedule up to 28 hours per week, including weekends, holidays, and evenings; ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform heavy physical labor.
- Valid driver's license and ability to remain insurable under the Agency's policy; completion of all required Lake Metroparks employee training and pre-employment background check.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team and communicate effectively with staff and the public.
