Job Purpose:
The Accountant is responsible for centralized accounting functions, working closely with hotel operations teams to ensure all property-level accounting activities (A/P, A/R, general cashier, and daily reporting) are performed accurately and in accordance with company standards. This role focuses on reviewing, consolidating, and utilizing financial information to complete month-end and year-end close processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review property-level accounting activities (A/P, A/R, general cashier, and daily reporting) to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company policies.
- Audit daily cash reports and reconciliations prepared by the property, ensuring deposits and balances are properly recorded.
- Monitor and review vendor activity, including reconciliation of key accounts and investigation of discrepancies.
- Ensure all recurring and outstanding invoices are recorded by the property and reflected accurately in the financials.
- Post monthly brand reimbursements and other corporate-level entries.
- Perform full month-end close, including preparation and review of journal entries, accruals, and supporting schedules in accordance with financial deadlines.
- Conduct variance analysis and investigate significant fluctuations in financial results.
- Support year-end close processes and external audits, including preparation of required documentation and responding to audit inquiries.
- Partner with hotel operations teams and ownership groups to ensure financial accuracy and provide guidance on accounting matters.
- Identify process gaps and drive improvements to enhance consistency, accuracy, and timeliness across properties.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Accounting diploma or equivalent required.
Other:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with hotel operations teams, ownership groups, and internal stakeholders.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for preparing reports, documenting processes, and responding to inquiries.
- Solid problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify issues and recommend practical solutions.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple deadlines, and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to work extended hours as needed, particularly during month-end and year-end close, or for urgent projects.
Work Arrangement (Hybrid / Remote):
- We offer flexible work arrangements, including remote work options. However, employees are expected to maintain a regular in-office presence of at least 1–2 days per week.
- Employees are required to attend the office as needed to perform operational duties, including check runs, deliveries to designated offices, and bank deposits.
- Employees must also be available to come into the office on short notice to support business needs, team collaboration, and operational requirements.
This flexibility is intended to support productivity and work-life balance and is not considered a fully remote arrangement.
