About The Role
The Maintenance Supervisor in our Engineering department is responsible for overseeing day-to-day maintenance operations, ensuring all equipment, facilities, and systems are safe, reliable, and operating at peak efficiency. This hourly, full-time role leads a team of maintenance technicians, coordinates preventive and corrective maintenance activities, and partners closely with operations and engineering to minimize downtime and support production goals. The Maintenance Supervisor also plays a key role in safety compliance, work order planning, vendor coordination, and continuous improvement of maintenance processes and standards.
What You'll Do
- Lead, schedule, and supervise a team of maintenance technicians on a daily basis to ensure timely completion of all assigned work.
- Plan, prioritize, and assign preventive and corrective maintenance tasks for equipment, utilities, and facility systems.
- Monitor work orders, ensure accurate documentation in the maintenance management system, and follow up on open items until completion.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and facility-related issues; provide technical guidance and escalate complex problems as needed.
- Coordinate with the engineering, production, and operations teams to schedule maintenance with minimal impact on production.
- Inspect equipment and facilities regularly to identify potential issues and recommend proactive maintenance or repairs.
- Ensure all maintenance work is performed in compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Train, mentor, and evaluate maintenance staff; support skills development and cross-training within the team.
- Manage parts and supplies inventory; initiate purchase requests and work with vendors or contractors as needed.
- Support implementation and optimization of preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
- Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement projects to enhance reliability and reduce downtime.
- Prepare and maintain reports on maintenance activities, equipment performance, and key performance indicators.
- Support onboarding and enforcement of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and best practices within the maintenance function.
- Respond to urgent maintenance issues and support after-hours or weekend coverage as required.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a maintenance leadership or supervisory role in an industrial, manufacturing, facilities, or similar environment.
- Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and/or facilities maintenance systems and equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents such as equipment manuals, schematics, and work instructions.
- Demonstrated experience planning, scheduling, and prioritizing maintenance work for a team.
- Working knowledge of maintenance management systems (CMMS) or work order systems.
- Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team; strong people-management and communication skills.
- Commitment to safety practices and knowledge of applicable safety regulations and procedures.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose equipment issues and implement effective solutions.
- Basic computer proficiency, including use of email, spreadsheets, and maintenance software tools.
- Ability to work in a physical, hands-on environment, including standing, walking, climbing, and lifting as required by the job.
- Flexibility to work different shifts, overtime, and on-call rotation as needed for a full-time, hourly role.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training, trade school, or certifications in maintenance-related fields is preferred.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
