MRI Diagnostic Radiological Technologist (DRT)
The MRI Diagnostic Radiological Technologist provides high-quality diagnostic imaging services to veteran patients. The role involves approximately 90% direct patient care and 10% administrative duties, ensuring all procedures meet state-of-the-art civilian medical standards.
Location: Minneapolis VA Health Care System (MVAHCS), One Veterans Drive, Minneapolis, MN 55417.
Schedule: M-F, 7:00a 3:30p
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care (90%):
o Prepare and position patients for MRI scans while ensuring their comfort and safety.
o Explain procedures to patients and address concerns.
o Operate and calibrate MRI equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images.
o Adhere to strict safety protocols regarding magnetic fields and metallic implants.
o Review image quality and collaborate with radiologists for further evaluation.
Administrative & Collaboration (10%):
o Maintain detailed and confidential patient records in compliance with healthcare regulations.
o Work closely with physicians, radiologists, and other healthcare staff to discuss results.
o Document all procedures, complications, and outcomes for quality assurance.
o Follow established infection control and patient safety standards, reporting any incidents via the VA Patient Safety Reporting System.
Qualifications & Requirements
Certification: Must hold a current, full, and unrestricted certification as a Registered Technologist in Magnetic Resonance ImagingR.T.(MR)(ARRT)through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
Experience: At least one (1) year of experience as a Diagnostic Radiological Technologist is required.
Life Support: Must maintain a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Technical Proficiency: Must be able to speak, read, and write English fluently.
Compliance: Must successfully complete VA credentialing (VetPro) and background security investigations (fingerprints and NACI).
Mandatory Training
Selected candidates must complete annual VA training, including:
VA Privacy and Information Security Awareness / Rules of Behavior.
VHA MRI Safety Training (Level 1).
HIPAA and Patient Rights training.
Electronic Health Records (CPRS) training.
