Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital (NVRH) is seeking a Patient Accounts Representative to join our Patient Business Services team. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for someone looking to grow in healthcare billing and patient accounts. As a Patient Accounts Representative, you’ll support accurate billing, assist with claims follow-up, and help ensure accounts are resolved efficiently—all while delivering excellent service and supporting NVRH’s mission, vision, and values. Working as part of a payor team, you will be trained in hospital and physician billing and will play an important role in supporting the financial health of our organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Train with leadership and Patient Accounts Specialists to learn hospital and physician billing processes.
- Perform claims processing, denial management, and follow-up to resolve patient accounts and maximize reimbursement
- Manage an assigned portion of accounts receivable and maintain accountability for all A/R activity
- Support accurate documentation and compliance with all departmental and hospital policies, including confidentiality, safety, and infection control
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 0–1 year of customer service experience preferred (retail or receptionist experience welcomed)
- Strong analytical, communication, and basic math skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and related programs
- Familiarity with health insurances
- Ability to make logical decisions and maintain accuracy and attention to detail
