About the role:
The Director of Learning & Development is responsible for designing, implementing, and scaling Veridian's enterprise-wide learning strategy with a special focus on developing future General Managers (GMs) and advancing skilled labor training across the outdoor living and home improvement divisions. This role builds the foundation of The Veridian Way through structured onboarding, leadership pipelines, technical training programs, and cultural immersion experiences that unlock potential and drive performance across all markets.
What you'll do:
- Design and implement a comprehensive leadership and development strategy that aligns with Veridian's mission, vision, and values.
- Develop a General Manager Training Program that prepares high-potential leaders to successfully oversee multi-million-dollar markets through structured classroom learning, field immersion, and mentorship.
- Create and deploy a Labor Training Program for operational trades (plastering, renovation, pool remodeling, decking, etc.) emphasizing safety, craftsmanship, productivity, and quality.
- Build career pathways that connect field, office, and leadership roles using Veridian's leveling framework.
- Partner with Operations, HR, and Safety leaders to align training initiatives with company performance metrics, including NPS, go-back rates, and customer satisfaction.
- Oversee the design and rollout of blended learning programs using in-person workshops, e-learning, simulations, and job shadowing.
- Identify internal subject matter experts and leverage them as trainers to teach The Veridian Way standards and best practices.
- Establish consistent onboarding experiences for new hires across all markets and business units.
- Implement and manage a Learning Management System (LMS) to centralize training content, tracking, and reporting.
- Create and monitor training KPIs to measure effectiveness, retention impact, and ROI.
- Partner with Market Presidents and the Director of Operations to embed learning into daily operations.
- Conduct regular training audits, field visits, and skills assessments to identify development opportunities.
- Lead, coach, and develop the Learning & Development team to ensure program scalability and impact.
- Collaborate with HR Business Partners to build individual development plans (IDPs) and succession pipelines for key roles.
- Manage vendor partnerships, budgets, and external certifications to support learning needs.
- Champion Veridian's culture of continuous improvement, growth, and people-first leadership through all training programs.
- Facilitate leadership summits, onboarding events, and cultural immersion sessions for new leaders.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations related to safety and job-specific training certifications.
What we are looking for:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, or related field (Master's preferred).
- 8+ years of progressive experience in Learning & Development, including at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Proven success developing management and frontline workforce training programs.
- Strong knowledge of adult learning theory, instructional design, and coaching principles.
- Experience implementing or managing an LMS platform.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and collaboration skills.
- Experience in construction, trades, or home improvement industries strongly preferred.
