Position Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to join our Primary Care team. This role supports both clinical and administrative functions, contributing to a smooth patient experience and efficient clinic operations. The LPN/RPN will work closely with physicians, patients, and interdisciplinary team members to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.
What you will be doing
- Administer vaccinations for children and adults with proper EMR documentation.
- Provide injections, including medications and immunotherapy treatments.
- Perform ear syringing and wound dressings and assist in laceration repair setups.
- Assist physicians during Pap tests and other minor procedures.
- Operate and maintain autoclave equipment for instrument sterilization.
- Perform suture and staple removal as required.
- Conduct blood pressure follow-ups, assess medication response, and educate patients following FHT guidelines.
- Maintain INR monitoring and management systems.
- Complete pre-operative and MTO physical forms as required.
- Triage patient calls, assess concerns, and provide education on disease prevention and health promotion.
- Record and document patient information, including history, visit purpose, and health needs, in the EMR.
- Educate patients on diagnostic tests, procedures, and immunizations, including possible side effects.
- Maintain recall lists for preventative care (e.g., immunizations, Pap tests, mammograms, diabetes management).
- Assist with appointment scheduling, referrals, and results management to ensure continuity of care.
- Collect and prepare laboratory specimens, performing in-office lab tests as needed.
- Handle contaminated supplies safely and ensure adherence to infection control standards.
- Collaborate with physicians, technologists, and administrative staff to ensure efficient clinic operations.
- Ensure patient confidentiality, safety, and compliance with privacy regulations at all times.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming clinical environment.
- Perform all other related clinical, administrative, or special tasks as assigned by clinic management.
You have
- Current registration and good standing with the provincial college of nurses.
- Previous experience in a primary care or family practice environment is preferred.
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Accuro, OSCAR, or equivalent.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
- Commitment to patient-centered care and continuous learning.
- Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
The wage offered for this position falls within a specified range and will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and organizational needs.
