Scoutbee is launching the Applied AI Lab at Coupa, a small, highly skilled team dedicated to embedding AI into Coupa's products and shaping the future of AI-enabled development. We are seeking our first Applied AI Engineer, a founding member who will play a critical role in defining how AI is built and delivered at Coupa.
The role is ideal for an engineer who thrives at the intersection of AI research and product development. You will work directly with product leaders to design and implement AI-powered applications that deliver measurable value to Coupa's buyers and suppliers. As a founding engineer, you will also help establish the technical foundation, frameworks, and best practices that will guide AI development across Coupa, while staying deeply engaged in the fast-moving AI ecosystem and experimenting with emerging technologies to keep us at the frontier.
Your role in our beehive:
- Design, build, and deploy AI applications using modern AI building blocks (Leading LLM SDKs, RAG, embeddings, agent orchestration, vector/graph DBs, etc.).
- Develop API-first services that allow existing Coupa product teams to easily integrate AI capabilities.
- Rapidly prototype and iterate on AI solutions in collaboration with product and design teams.
- Establish coding standards, frameworks, and practices for scalable AI feature development.
- Collaborate with data scientists to transformCoupa's unique transaction dataset into differentiated AI products.
- Ensure all AI solutions adhere to compliance, security, and governance requirements.
What you bring to our beehive:
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 2+ years in AI/ML application development.
- Proficiency in Python, with experience building production-grade APIs.
- Strong knowledge of modern AI techniques: LLMs, RAG, embeddings, orchestration frameworks, and evaluation methods.
- Deeply engaged in the fast-moving AI ecosystem, staying current on the latest innovations and experimenting with emerging technologies in your free time.
- Comfortable working across the stack: data pipelines, backend services, and application logic.
- Experience integrating AI into real-world enterprise workflows is highly desirable.
- Product mindset: ability to collaborate closely with PMs and designers to deliver intuitive, impactful experiences.
- An entrepreneurial spirit: - motivated to build from zero-to-one and thrive in a small, fast-moving team.
