The Facilities Project Manager plays a critical role in advancing Community Action Marin's commitment to creating safe, functional, and inspiring environments for the children, families, and staff we serve. This position is responsible for overseeing the planning, design, and execution of renovation and improvement projects across multiple childcare and program sites.
Working closely with the Director of Operations and Facilities Manager, this individual will bring a strong technical foundation, hands-on project management experience, and a collaborative spirit to ensure that each project is completed on time, within budget, and aligned with CAM's mission, regulatory standards, and quality expectations.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Management
- Lead the full lifecycle of facilities renovation and improvement projects; from scope development to closeout.
- Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and deliverables aligned with agency priorities and compliance standards.
- Coordinate and oversee contractors, architects, inspectors, and consultants to ensure adherence to plans, timelines, and regulatory codes.
- Monitor project progress, control costs, and prepare clear and timely reports for leadership and funders.
- Ensure all projects comply with CAL/OSHA safety standards, ADA accessibility requirements, CCLD regulations, and all applicable building codes.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation, including contracts, permits, invoices, and progress photos for audit and funding compliance.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost efficiency while maintaining high-quality standards.
Safety & Compliance
Promote and uphold a culture of safety across all job sites. Verify that contractors and staff follow proper safety protocols, CAL/OSHA guidelines, and environmental standards. Respond promptly to safety concerns and collaborate on corrective actions to mitigate risks.
Collaboration & Communication
Partner with internal teams and program leaders to minimize disruption during construction and ensure site readiness. Act as the primary liaison between CAM, external vendors, and funding agencies regarding project timelines, updates, and compliance requirements. Communicate proactively with stakeholders to ensure transparency, manage expectations, and foster positive relationships.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Facilities Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered.
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of experience managing multi-site construction or facilities projects, ideally in education, childcare, or nonprofit settings.
- Demonstrated success in delivering projects on schedule and within budget.
- Strong working knowledge of building systems (MEP), code compliance, and capital project processes.
Skills and Abilities:
- Exceptional project management, organizational, and time management skills.
- Strong analytical, budgeting, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to build effective working relationships across diverse teams and community partners.
- Must possess a valid California Driver's License, maintain a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).

- Deep understanding – and ability to articulate – the role equity, inclusion, and diversity plays in our work.
- Software: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications: Outlook, Word, Excel, and Internet Explorer and Project Management Tools (e.g., Asana).
- Confidential and Sensitive Information: Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
